Reviews Summary

One year on from the latest-generation Lexus GX’s debut, the excitement is still there. The 2025 Lexus GX looks great, drives well, and handles itself incredibly well off-road. The latter is something for which that the GX has always been renowned, at least among those who’ve been inclined to find out.

Verdict: With great standard tech, safety equipment, looks, and overall versatility, the Lexus GX is worth the attention of any shopper who’s in the market for a luxury SUV.

Reviews Summary

You may not have heard much about the Lexus TX, the company’s full-size three-row SUV. Introduced for the 2024 model year, it’s still a young’un compared to its competition, but it’s made its mark by offering a spacious interior and two different powertrains, wrapped in a stylish package.

In Lexus’s seven-model SUV lineup, the TX slots just below the GX and LX—two body-on-frame models focused on off-roading. In Canada, you can snag a gas-powered TX or one with a hybrid powertrain. (Note the test unit for this review, the 550h+ plug-in hybrid, is not yet available in Canada. Lexus plans to sell it here, but not in time for the 2026 model year).

Verdict: The 2026 Lexus TX is a great option for large families that need a spacious third row, but some of the technology comes with a steep learning curve.

2025 Lexus GX

10/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Lexus GX underwent a significant redesign, presenting a striking new look compared to its predecessors. Its exterior was reminiscent of classic Land Rover designs, with a boxy shape and a robust front accented by LED headlights and a well-proportioned grille. The GX 550 Overtrail+ model featured 33-inch tires on matte grey 18-inch wheels, rock rails, and a distinctive Earth brown colour. Inside, the GX maintained a luxurious atmosphere with high-quality switchgear, chic dashboard design, and ample headroom. The seats, upholstered in NuLuxe faux leather, offered heating, ventilation, and massaging functions, while visibility was excellent due to tall windows and elevated ride height.

The 2026 Lexus TX offered a variety of packages tailored to different powertrains, with the TX 350 featuring the Luxury package and the TX 500h hybrid starting with the F Sport Performance 2 package. The exterior retained a large grille and sharp bi-LED headlights, with rear LED lighting spanning the vehicle's width. Inside, the TX provided three interior colour options and ambient lighting, though material quality fell short of luxury standards. Redesigned door handles were a notable feature, though they seemed unnecessary. The TX's interior was spacious, with a third row that accommodated adults comfortably, and a one-touch button facilitated access to the third row.

The 2025 Lexus GX was powered by a twin-turbo 3.4-litre V6 engine, delivering 349 horsepower and 479 pound-feet of torque. This power was managed by a full-time 4WD system and a 10-speed automatic transmission. The GX accelerated from 0-100 km/h in approximately 6.5 seconds, despite its 2,570-kilogram curb weight. Its fuel economy was rated at 15.3 L/100 km in the city and 11.2 on the highway, with a combined rating of 13.5 L/100 km. The GX excelled in off-road conditions, with features like a locking centre differential and downhill assist control enhancing its capabilities.

The 2026 Lexus TX 350 featured a 275-horsepower 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, while the TX 500h hybrid increased output to 366 horsepower. The TX 350 came with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and the hybrid used a six-speed automatic. The TX offered Normal, Eco, and Sport drive modes, with Sport mode enhancing throttle response. The TX 500h included adaptive suspension and rear steering for improved handling. The TX's AWD systems provided reliable traction, with the hybrid's Direct4 AWD system using electric motors for torque distribution.
