2024 Jeep Wrangler Reviews Summary

The Jeep Wrangler has been the star of the off-roading show for decades, only recently facing real competition in the form of the Ford Bronco. Now five years into its fourth generation, the venerable Wrangler gets a mid-cycle refresh that focuses on technology, safety, and refinement—with just a splash of upgraded capability thrown in for good measure.

2025 Jeep Wrangler Reviews Summary

You know what you’re getting with the Jeep Wrangler: iconic looks and legendary off-road ability but an overall package somewhat out of step with the times. Even so, it’s a model that’s continually evolving, and Jeep does its best to appeal to the broadest cross-section of customers possible. You can get a Wrangler with two-door or four-door body styles, and you have a choice between two engines and six trim levels. This year, all 2025 Wrangler models have standard power windows and door locks, the V6/automatic drivetrain returns to the lineup, while new colours include ’41 (drab green), and Mojito (bright green).

Verdict: Rough, raw, and unrefined, the 2025 Wrangler is made for adventure and getting dirty. The top comes off. The doors come off. There are drain holes in the floor so you can hose it out. This Jeep can be unpleasant to drive daily, yet we love it just the same.

Look and feel

2024 Jeep Wrangler

9/10

2025 Jeep Wrangler

6/10

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler retained its iconic, rugged design, characterized by a burly, body-on-frame look that was consistent across all models. Notable changes included a redesigned grille, which was shorter and wider, enhancing airflow into the engine bay. The integration of the antenna into the windshield was a clever upgrade, preventing it from snagging on branches during off-road adventures. Additionally, the Wrangler offered a variety of roof options, including a traditional soft-top, a full hard top, and a power-retractable sunroof, allowing for a customizable open-air experience. The ability to fold down the windshield and remove the doors further emphasized its adventurous spirit.

In contrast, the 2025 Jeep Wrangler Sport S model, with its black-on-black colour scheme, was less visually appealing in a tropical climate. Despite this, the Wrangler's design remained fundamentally appealing, rooted in its World War II military vehicle heritage. The 2025 model was available in various trims, including Sport, Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and Rubicon X, with the Rubicon 392 discontinued in Canada. The interior featured classy grey fabric dashboard trim, metallic accents, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. While the Sport S model's colour combination and wheel design were uninspired, the Wrangler's capability to traverse diverse terrains remained a key selling point.

Performance

2024 Jeep Wrangler

8/10

2025 Jeep Wrangler

7/10

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler offered a range of powertrains, including a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, a plug-in hybrid version with 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque, a 3.6-litre V6 engine producing 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, and a powerful 6.4-litre V8 engine delivering 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The Wrangler featured various transfer cases, such as the Command-Trac 4WD system for Sport and Sahara trims, and the Rock-Trac transfer case for the Rubicon trim. Most models came with an eight-speed automatic transmission, while a six-speed manual was available with the 3.6-litre engine. The 4xe PHEV model was praised for its efficiency, offering 35 kilometres of all-electric range.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler's standard powertrain was a 3.6-litre V6 engine with a six-speed manual transmission, while a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission was also available. The four-cylinder engine produced 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque, offering marginally better fuel efficiency than the V6. During testing, the four-cylinder model achieved an average fuel economy of 12.3 L/100 km. The Wrangler's standard 4WD, high ground clearance, and generous approach and departure angles made it suitable for various terrains. However, its three-star rollover resistance rating from the NHTSA was a concern. The ride quality was rough, and the steering felt disconnected, but the Wrangler's off-road capabilities remained impressive.

Form and function

2025 Jeep Wrangler

The 2024 Jeep Wrangler saw an upgrade in towing capacity, now rated to tow 2,268 kilograms (5,000 pounds) for specific models. Inside, the Wrangler offered heated seats and a heated steering wheel, with 12-way power-adjustable front seats available. The 4xe model featured a 30-amp Power Box, allowing for the use of various accessories. However, ventilated seats were not available.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler presented challenges in terms of entry and exit due to its high ground clearance and narrow door openings. The front seats were comfortable, with cloth upholstery and optional heated features. Rear-seat legroom was adequate, but taller passengers needed to be cautious of plastic hooks on the front seatbacks. Storage space was limited, with small items often ending up in cupholders. Cargo access was cumbersome, requiring the opening of the tailgate and lifting the rear window. The four-door model offered 897 litres of cargo space, expandable to 2,050 litres with the rear seats folded.

Additional features included a wireless hotspot, dual Bluetooth phone pairing, and the ability to store up to five user profiles.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler's Uconnect 5 infotainment system was a highlight, featuring a 12.3-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Sport S model came with an eight-speaker stereo, while a nine-speaker Alpine premium sound system was optional. Jeep Connect offered adventure guides and GPS trail logs for off-road navigation. The Convenience Group pack added a 7-inch digital display, passive entry, and a remote engine starting system. Rear parking sensors were available in the Safety Group option pack.

The 2023 Wrangler received four stars for frontal crash protection and three stars for rollover protection from the NHTSA, with IIHS ratings of "Good" for roof strength and head restraints.

The 2025 Jeep Wrangler continued with side curtain airbags as standard. Optional safety features included blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.
