2025 Ford F-150 Reviews Summary

Available in three cab styles with three bed lengths and eight trim levels, there is a 2025 F-150 for almost any budget or requirement. Six powertrains are also on the menu, and you can opt for an electric version called the F-150 Lightning. For the 2025 model year, Ford has added a slew of new standard and optional driver-assistance systems to the F-150, and a plush new Platinum Plus option package offers extra decadence for luxury truck buyers.

Verdict: The depth and breadth of the 2025 Ford F-150 lineup are downright staggering. Fortunately for Ford, each version of this truck boasts serious substance. While some rivals may be more appealing in one way or another, considered as a whole, the F-150 is the best light-duty pickup truck your money can buy.

2026 Chevrolet Colorado Reviews Summary

Available only in a crew-cab, short-bed body style, the Colorado offers one powertrain, rear-wheel drive (RWD) or four-wheel drive (4WD), and five trim levels. Talk about simplicity! Last redesigned for the 2023 model year, the Colorado is mostly unchanged for 2026. White Sands paint replaces Harvest Bronze on the Trail Boss and ZR2, and a new Bronze Accent Package is available. Additionally, Chevy has discontinued the snorkel and the rubber bed mat options.

Verdict: In most ways, the 2026 Colorado is an impressive midsize truck. However, it plays runner-up to the Toyota Tacoma, which is not only more versatile and available with a wider range of dealer accessories but also trades on its legendary reputation for long-term reliability.

2025 Ford F-150

8/10

2026 Chevrolet Colorado

The 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor SuperCrew was a robust and visually striking vehicle, equipped with a 5.0-litre V8 engine and standard four-wheel drive. With a base price of $71,005 Canadian, the truck's MSRP increased to $87,139 with additional options like the Equipment Group 402A and a twin-panel sunroof. The Tremor stood out with its off-road-focused design, featuring a mix of body-colour and black exterior details, Active Orange accents, and exclusive wheels with all-terrain tires. The Space White Metallic paint added a sophisticated touch, complementing the truck's rugged aesthetic. Inside, the black interior with orange accents and optional leather upholstery provided a comfortable and industrial feel, while the digital instrumentation and touchscreen infotainment system offered ease of use, even with gloves on.

The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss, on the other hand, presented a more affordable option with prices ranging from $42,943 to $64,243. Our test truck, equipped with the Midnight Edition Package and Convenience Package II, had an MSRP of $63,528. The Reef Blue paint and 20-inch wheels gave the truck a bold presence, but the interior left much to be desired. The cabin's black monotony, flimsy carpeted floor mats, and acres of plastic detracted from the overall experience. Despite the appealing design and modern dual screens, the lack of a headlight control knob and the challenging windshield wiper controls were notable drawbacks. The Trail Boss's interior, while functional, lacked the refinement and comfort found in the F-150 Tremor.

Performance

2025 Ford F-150

7/10

2026 Chevrolet Colorado

6/10

The 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor's 5.0-litre V8 engine delivered an impressive 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, providing a maximum towing capacity of 4,490 kilograms and a payload capacity of 780 kilograms. Despite its robust performance, the V8's fuel economy was less efficient than the base twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6, which offered better power, torque, and towing capacity. The Tremor's off-road capabilities were enhanced by its standard 4WD, off-road-tuned suspension, skid plates, and various driving modes. Ford's Trail Control system, including 1-Pedal Drive and Trail Turn Assist, further improved its off-road prowess. However, the truck's size posed challenges on narrow trails and in urban environments, where parking sensors and a surround-view camera system proved invaluable.

In contrast, the 2026 Chevrolet Colorado featured a turbocharged 2.7-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. With a towing capacity of up to 3,500 kilograms and a maximum payload rating of 837 kilograms, the Colorado Trail Boss offered decent performance. However, its fuel economy was less impressive, averaging 13.4 L/100 km during testing. The Trail Boss's off-road capabilities were bolstered by its off-road-tuned suspension, all-terrain tires, and hill descent control system. While the Trail Boss handled off-road challenges with ease, its on-road performance was less refined, with a stiff suspension and poor halogen headlights detracting from the overall experience.

Form and function

2025 Ford F-150

7/10

2026 Chevrolet Colorado

8/10

The 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor offered a spacious and comfortable interior, with oversized, power-adjustable front seats and a roomy rear bench. The test truck featured perforated black leather, heated and ventilated seats, and a heated steering wheel, providing comfort in various weather conditions. The optional panoramic sunroof and power sliding rear window enhanced the driving experience, while ample storage space and the Mobile Office package added practicality. The Pro Access tailgate and spray-in bedliner improved the truck's utility, making it a versatile choice for towing and hauling.

The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado Trail Boss, equipped with Evotex upholstery, offered a comfortable ride with heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. However, the interior's hard plastic surfaces and lack of assist steps made entry and exit challenging. The back seat was cramped, with a low seat cushion and no centre armrest, leading to discomfort for passengers. Despite these drawbacks, the Colorado provided ample storage space, with a roomy centre armrest bin, a good-sized glove compartment, and Chevy's CornerStep bumper design for easy cargo bed access. The EZ Lift-and-Lower tailgate and StowFlex compartment added utility to the truck's design.

Technology

2025 Ford F-150

9/10

The 2025 Ford F-150 featured dual 12-inch displays, including a digital instrument panel and Sync 4 infotainment touchscreen. While the screens were smaller than some competitors, their usability was impressive. The infotainment system, paired with a 14-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, along with a native navigation system and voice recognition technology. The truck also included a widescreen head-up display, off-roading and parking cameras, and trailering assistance features, enhancing its technological appeal.

The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado excelled in in-cab technology, with an 11-inch digital driver display and an 11.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system running on Google built-in technology. The system offered Google Maps, Google Assistant, wireless Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto, along with Bluetooth, SiriusXM, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. Despite some issues with Google Assistant's voice recognition, the infotainment system was user-friendly. The absence of a tuning knob was offset by steering wheel controls, but the standard six-speaker stereo lacked quality, with a Bose premium audio system available only on higher trims.

Safety

2025 Ford F-150

9/10

2026 Chevrolet Colorado

4/10

The 2025 Ford F-150 Tremor boasted an impressive array of safety features, including oncoming-traffic detection, evasive steering assist, intersection braking assist, and predictive speed assist. The BlueCruise hands-free driving technology, standard on the Tremor trim, offered reliable performance, though it required driver intervention in certain situations. The F-150 earned high marks in crash tests, with a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA and strong scores from the IIHS.

The 2026 Chevrolet Colorado's safety features included forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian and cyclist detection, and lane keep assist. The Technology Package added adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera system. However, the Colorado's crash test results were disappointing, with three-star protection in side-impact collisions and a "Poor" front crash prevention rating from the IIHS.
