2023 Nissan Rogue Reviews Summary

The 2023 Nissan Rogue is critical to the automaker’s success. Last year, this compact crossover SUV was the 16th best-selling vehicle in America, significantly outselling the company’s Altima midsize sedan and every other Nissan available in U.S. showrooms. Two years ago, Nissan redesigned the Rogue. Last year, it added a new turbocharged engine. Now, for the 2023 model year, the Rogue SV is available with a new Midnight Edition package that blacks out the exterior trim, while the Rogue Platinum adds Amazon Alexa compatibility. Still, the Rogue faces fresh competition from the redesigned Honda CR-V and Kia Sportage, the all-new Mazda CX-50, and a plug-in hybrid Mitsubishi Outlander.

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser Reviews Summary

Well, we say “finally.” In fact, the US market has only gone without the Land Cruiser for two years, but the fandom made it clear that was two years too many. The new stateside Land Cruiser is an all-new model for 2024. Its coming was presaged by the Lexus GX with which it shares a platform, but Toyota made sure that this midsize SUV falls squarely in its own segment.

Verdict: The new 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser is the latest in a spate of automotive reboots, and it just may be the best of them. The new Land Cruiser combines retro styling and excellent off-road capability with the latest in comfort and convenience and, of course, brand heritage. But Toyota may be relying too heavily on the revered nameplate to justify the price, particularly since it’s changed some of the fundamental characteristics of the model.

Performance

2024 Toyota Land Cruiser

9/10

The 2023 Nissan Rogue featured a 1.5-liter turbocharged three-cylinder VC-Turbo engine, producing 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. It offered Eco, Auto, and Sport driving modes, with AWD versions adding Off-Road and Snow modes. The CVT provided a responsive urban driving experience, though it lacked highway passing power. The Rogue averaged 28.9 mpg, slightly below the EPA's 31 mpg estimate. Its suspension and steering offered a balance of ride compliance and body control, though the steering felt lifeless.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser utilized a hybrid powertrain with a 2.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a 1.87-kWh battery, and a 48-hp electric motor, delivering 326 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque. It featured an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time 4WD. The Multi-Terrain Select system and CRAWL control enhanced off-road capability, while the disconnectable stabilizer bar improved articulation. The Land Cruiser excelled in off-road conditions, with smooth operation and minimal noise.

The 2023 Nissan Rogue offered a spacious interior with comfortable front seats featuring Zero Gravity designs. The rear seats, however, lacked comfort and leg support. The Rogue provided 36.5 cubic feet of cargo space, expandable to 74.1 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. Storage was plentiful, though unlined compartments could cause noise.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser had two rows of seating, with headroom and legroom measurements of 36.1 and 33.0 inches in the front, and 35.3 and 26.7 inches in the rear. The center console housed off-road controls, and the cargo area offered 37.5 cubic feet of space with a raised load floor. The Premium Package added a center console cool box and USB-C ports.

The 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser's higher trims came with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and the Multi-Terrain Monitor system, enhancing off-road navigation. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, with USB-C ports for both rows. The middle trim offered a 10-speaker system, upgradeable to a 14-speaker JBL system with the Premium Package.
