2025 Nissan Rogue Reviews Summary

The 2025 Nissan Rogue is one of the main players in the highly competitive compact SUV segment. Ever since the first Rogue went on sale for the 2008 model year, Nissan has made sure to constantly update and improve what’s now the automaker’s best-selling model in North America.

For the 2025 model year, the Rogue gets a little off-road bravado added to its winning recipe. The Rogue Rock Creek trim is equipped with adventure gear like all-terrain tires, a tubular roof rack, a surround-view camera system, and hill descent control. It also has trim-specific exterior design touches like red trim pieces on the alloy wheels and front grille and “Rock Creek” badges on the front seats. Nissan’s ProPilot Assist 2.1 highway driving assist system is also newly available on the Rogue.

Verdict: With its reasonable price tag and impressive array of comfort features and tech touches, the Rogue is aimed right at the heart of the compact SUV segment. This year’s improvements add a little more polish to the Rogue, particularly with the outdoorsy Rock Creek model and latest generation of Nissan’s hands-free highway driving technology. This is an extremely well-rounded choice, though not everything is perfect.

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser Reviews Summary

This two-row midsize SUV is designed for travelling almost anywhere at almost any time. It shares its platform with the rugged Toyota 4Runner SUV and Tacoma pickup truck, and it’s equipped with a turbocharged hybrid powertrain better at supplying power than efficiency. The 2025 Land Cruiser is almost unchanged following its 2024 redesign, which saw its return to the Canadian market after a nearly 30-year hiatus.

Verdict: There is a lot to like about the Land Cruiser, especially if you don’t care about fuel economy. Our test vehicle averaged 15 litres per 100 kilometres, falling well short of expectations. Its thirst for fuel easily ranks as the worst thing about this SUV. Also, we recommend upgrading from the base 1958 trim level.

2025 Nissan Rogue

8/10

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

9/10

The 2025 Nissan Rogue in Canada offered a diverse lineup with six trims, including the base S and the top-tier Platinum. The SV trim was particularly popular due to its reasonable price of $40,685, which included a destination charge and other fees. It came equipped with desirable features such as an eight-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, dual-zone climate control, and a power liftgate. All-wheel drive, heated front seats, and a heated steering wheel were standard across all Canadian models. The Platinum trim, which was the focus of our test drive, boasted luxurious features like semi-aniline leather seating, a panoramic sunroof, and a 10-speaker Bose audio system. The 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in capability was a highlight, offering seamless navigation and connectivity. The Rogue's design, with its blocky shape, large grille, and thin headlights, gave it a bold presence, complemented by 19-inch alloy wheels.

The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, in its second model year, was available in two trims: the base 1958 and the more upscale Cruiser. The 1958 trim, priced at $73,270, featured a retro look with round headlights and basic equipment. The Cruiser trim, priced at $82,030, offered a modern appearance, more colour options, and enhanced off-roading capabilities. Our test vehicle, equipped with the Premium Package, showcased a Heritage Blue and Grey paint job, 20-inch wheels, and a roof rack, bringing the MSRP to $90,603. The Land Cruiser's design emphasized utility with a traditional two-box SUV shape and dark grey cladding. Inside, the Cruiser trim offered a more refined interior with Java-coloured leather and dual 12.3-inch digital screens. However, the second-row seats lacked comfort, and the rear window design was less than ideal. Despite these drawbacks, the Land Cruiser provided ample cargo space and off-road capability.

Performance

2025 Nissan Rogue

7/10

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

6/10

The 2025 Nissan Rogue was powered by a 201-horsepower turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine, which provided adequate performance for everyday driving. While it lacked the punch for rapid acceleration, the engine was paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) that delivered power smoothly to all four wheels. The CVT was well-tuned, offering a refined driving experience without excessive engine noise. The Rogue's steering was light and accurate, making it easy to handle, though it didn't offer the sporty feel of some competitors. Braking was smooth and predictable, contributing to a comfortable driving experience.

In contrast, the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser featured Toyota’s i-Force Max hybrid system, combining a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with an electric motor to produce 326 horsepower and 465 pound-feet of torque. This setup, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and full-time 4WD, allowed for a towing capacity of 2,720 kilograms. The Land Cruiser excelled in off-road conditions, thanks to features like Multi-Terrain Select and Crawl Control. However, its fuel efficiency was less impressive, with real-world consumption significantly higher than official ratings. On-road, the Land Cruiser felt powerful but was less agile on twisty roads due to its suspension tuning. Despite this, it handled urban and suburban driving well, offering a smooth ride over rough surfaces.

Form and function

2025 Nissan Rogue

2025 Toyota Land Cruiser

6/10

The 2025 Nissan Rogue's interior was well-designed, with quilted leather seating and upmarket trim in the Platinum model. The cabin layout was user-friendly, with physical controls for climate and seat heating functions. The front seats were comfortable and supportive, while rear legroom measured 978 millimetres, making it competitive in its class. The Rogue offered 1,028 litres of cargo space behind the second row, with a practical Divide-and-Hide storage system. Storage solutions throughout the cabin were thoughtful, including a compartment beneath the centre console for valuables.

The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser's interior, particularly in the Cruiser trim with the Premium Package, featured real leather and a power sunroof. While the front seats were comfortable, the second-row seats lacked support and comfort. The Land Cruiser offered 1,062 litres of cargo space, with a high load floor that required effort to load heavy items. Maximum cargo capacity with the rear seats folded was 2,324 litres. The interior design prioritized utility, though some features, like the centre console's cool box, seemed unnecessary.

Technology

The 2025 Nissan Rogue's infotainment system varied by trim, with an 8-inch screen on lower trims and a 12.3-inch screen on higher trims like the Platinum. The larger screen offered wireless smartphone connectivity and was praised for its user-friendly interface and quick response times. Google navigation was particularly useful, and the ProPilot system provided hands-free operation on highways. A wireless charging pad was conveniently located at the base of the centre console.

In the 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser, upgrading to the Cruiser trim brought dual 12.3-inch displays with the Toyota Audio Multimedia system. This system included wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, and access to Apple Music and Amazon Music. The Premium Package added a 14-speaker JBL sound system and other features like a head-up display and digital key technology. The Drive Connect feature offered cloud-based navigation and a digital assistant, enhancing the overall tech experience.

The 2025 Nissan Rogue received a five-star rating from the NHTSA and high marks from the IIHS, except for an "Acceptable" score in the side impact test. Standard safety features included automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and lane departure warning. Optional features included a head-up display and ProPilot Assist systems.

The 2025 Toyota Land Cruiser came with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0, offering a comprehensive suite of safety features like forward-collision warning, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control. The Premium Package added features like front cross-traffic alert and Traffic Jam Assist. The Land Cruiser received a four-star overall rating from the NHTSA, with mixed results in specific tests.
