2024 Nissan Rogue vs 2025 Lincoln Aviator

The 2024 Nissan Rogue underwent its first major styling update since the 2021 model year, offering a refreshed look across its Canadian trim levels: S, SV Moonroof, SV Premium, SL, and Platinum. The new design featured a larger grille that seamlessly integrated with the stack headlights and daytime running lights, which were signature elements of the Rogue. While Nissan claimed updates to the rear fascia, the changes were subtle, primarily involving redesigned inner taillight elements. The Rogue SV received a new 18-inch wheel design, while the Platinum model boasted a new 19-inch machined-finish wheel design and additional black exterior trim, including an optional black roof. Inside, the dashboard was updated to accommodate a new 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, enhancing the Rogue's premium feel. The Rogue SV models received new materials throughout the interior, and the Platinum trim featured leather seats with quilted stitching and a new Chestnut brown colour option.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator, built on a rear-wheel-drive platform shared with the Ford Explorer, showcased classic design proportions with a blunt nose, short front overhang, and a tapered roofline. While the Aviator's design was fundamentally appealing, the 2025 styling updates, particularly with the optional Jet Appearance Package, were perceived as less elegant. The interior exuded a classic architectural sensibility, with a focus on traditional luxury rather than overwhelming technology. However, the remote keyless entry fob was criticized for its cheap plastic construction. The Aviator was available in Premiere and Reserve trims in Canada, with prices ranging from $79,595 to $81,695. Our test vehicle, in Reserve trim, featured extra-cost Whisper Blue paint and several option packages, bringing its MSRP to $96,295. The Reserve 201A package added numerous desirable features, including upgraded exterior lighting, 30-way-adjustable front seats with massage, and a 28-speaker Revel Ultima audio system.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue featured a 1.5-litre turbocharged three-cylinder engine, part of Nissan's VC-Turbo lineup, which allowed it to vary its compression ratio for optimal power or fuel economy. With 201 horsepower and 225 pound-feet of torque, the Rogue's engine outperformed many of its competitors, including the Honda CR-V and Subaru Forester. However, the continuously variable transmission (CVT) was criticized for its sluggish response, detracting from the engine's performance. The Rogue's suspension was firmer than expected, impacting ride quality without improving handling. Despite these drawbacks, the Rogue was quiet, and its engine performance was commendable.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator was powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Drivers could choose from various driving modes, including Excite and Normal. The Aviator's adaptive air suspension provided a comfortable ride, although the 22-inch wheels and thin tires struggled with rough surfaces. The Aviator's fuel economy was rated at 11.9 litres per 100 kilometres, but our test observed 13.3 L/100 km. The Aviator offered excellent visibility and a quiet cabin, although road noise from the oversized tires was noticeable. The Aviator's driving character was more focused on comfort than athleticism, with the adaptive Air Glide suspension ensuring a composed and calming ride.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue offered competitive passenger space, with differences primarily in legroom compared to rivals like the Honda CR-V and Hyundai Tucson. The Rogue's cargo space was slightly less than the CR-V and Tucson but more than the Subaru Forester. The optional Divide-N-Hide system allowed for flexible cargo configurations, and the Rogue featured a power liftgate on SV models and a motion-activated liftgate on SL and Platinum trims. The centre console provided additional storage, although accessing the floor-level tray was awkward.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator's Perfect Position front seats offered exceptional comfort with 30-way adjustments, heating, ventilation, and massage functions. The second-row captain's chairs were also comfortable, with available heating and ventilation. However, the third-row seats were less accommodating for adults. The Aviator's storage space was excellent, with a well-organized centre console and deep door panel storage pockets. The Aviator provided 466 litres of cargo space with the third row in use, expanding to 1,131 litres with the third row folded and a maximum of 2,149 litres.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue featured an 8-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto on lower trims, while SL and Platinum models received a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless connectivity and Google built-in apps. The Rogue was the first Nissan to offer Google built-in, providing integrated Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store access. The dual 12.3-inch screen setup was a significant improvement, although the touchscreen was occasionally slow to boot up. The Rogue offered multiple USB ports and a wireless charging pad on higher trims. Nissan extended the free trial period for its Nissan Connect Services to three years, offering features like remote door lock/unlock and vehicle health reports.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator featured a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Lincoln Digital Experience. The system included Google Built-in and Alexa Built-in, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the Google Assistant struggled with voice prompts in our test vehicle. The Aviator's 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D sound system provided excellent audio quality. The Aviator also offered an impressive head-up display with comprehensive data presentation.

The 2024 Nissan Rogue received top safety ratings from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from the NHTSA. Standard safety features included automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning. ProPilot Assist, available on higher trims, offered advanced driver assistance with automated lane centring.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator came equipped with Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Drive 2.0, featuring advanced safety systems like active blind-spot monitoring and evasive steering assist. BlueCruise, a hands-free driving assistance system, was standard, offering proactive driver control notifications. The Aviator received five-star ratings from the NHTSA and Good ratings from the IIHS.
