2022 Chevrolet Blazer Reviews Summary

Have you ever found yourself thinking that you’d love to have a new Chevy Camaro but what you really need is a midsize SUV? If so, you’ll want to consider the 2022 Chevrolet Blazer, a Camaro-influenced crossover that seats up to five people and carries up to 1,818 litres of cargo. However, unlike Blazers of yore, the 2022 Blazer is best used on pavement. Generally speaking, though, aside from its sporty styling and overall adequacy, there isn’t much here to titillate a typical SUV buyer. Or Camaro dreamer.

2022 Nissan Rogue Reviews Summary

The 2022 Nissan Rogue is a two-row crossover compact SUV with frameless, unibody construction, riding on a platform that was all-new for 2021 and shared with the next-generation Mitsubishi Outlander. It comes with front-wheel drive (FWD) or available all-wheel drive (AWD) and in five trim levels. In Canada, FWD prices start at $29,148 before the $1,860 destination fees and AWD at $31,448, equating to a $650 increase for both models compared to the 2021 model year. All-wheel drive costs $2,300 on lower trim levels and is standard on higher trims. And those prices include a new, more powerful engine and a new transmission. At a fuel consumption as low as 7.2 litres per 100 kilometres combined, the 2022 Rogue is the current leader in its non-hybrid compact crossover SUV class.

2022 Chevrolet Blazer

7/10

2022 Nissan Rogue

7/10

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer, available in Canada in LT, True North, Premier, and RS trims, was known for its sporty, Camaro-inspired design. The LT trim featured a standard turbocharged four-cylinder engine with front-wheel drive, while other trims came with a V6 engine and all-wheel drive. The RS trim boasted a sophisticated twin-clutch AWD system for better traction. The Blazer's exterior saw minor updates, including revised bumpers and new wheel designs, with two-tone paint options for the LT and RS trims. Inside, the Blazer's design echoed the Camaro, with an 8-inch touchscreen and innovative climate controls. However, the interior was criticized for its hard plastic surfaces, particularly on the upper door panels. The RS trim's red interior accents matched the exterior paint, adding a touch of sophistication.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue, redesigned in 2021, continued to impress with its mature styling and shared design elements with other Nissan models like the Pathfinder. The Rogue featured a V-motion grille, multi-level LED headlights, and a floating roof design. Inside, the Rogue's cabin was noted for its layered dash and contrasting surfaces, creating a sophisticated look. The centre console, with its electronic gear selector, offered ample storage space, and the 9-inch infotainment display was well-placed for easy access. The Rogue's Zero Gravity front seats provided comfort, and the spacious second row accommodated adults comfortably. The fit and finish were exemplary, especially in the top-of-the-line Platinum model.

2022 Nissan Rogue

8/10

The 2022 Chevrolet Blazer LT came with a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 228 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque, paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The higher trims featured a 3.6-litre V6 engine generating 308 hp and 270 lb-ft of torque, with a dual-clutch AWD system exclusive to the RS trim. The Blazer offered various driving modes, including Tour, Sport, Slippery, and Tow/Haul, and could tow up to 2,040 kilograms. While the Blazer RS delivered firm and sporty handling, its V6 engine was loud and unrefined. The SUV's suspension struggled on winding roads, and the steering felt artificial in Sport mode. Fuel consumption was rated at 11.0 L/100 km combined, but real-world testing showed 11.5 L/100 km.

The 2022 Nissan Rogue received a performance boost with its new 1.5-litre VC-Turbo engine, producing 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque. This engine improved power and efficiency, with fuel consumption ratings of 7.8 L/100 km city, 6.5 highway, and 7.2 combined. The Rogue's CVT transmission offered wider gear ratios, enhancing acceleration and responsiveness. The chassis and suspension provided a smooth ride with minimal body roll, and the electric power-assisted steering offered good feel. The Rogue's turning diameter was a tight 10.8 metres, making it agile in urban settings.
