Is the 2017 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.36/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback highlights dependability and a trouble-free feel for many owners, along with a reputation for being a car you can count on when it has been maintained properly. At the same time, some drivers mention concerns about higher-mileage examples, so used buyers should pay close attention to service history and condition before committing. For long-term ownership, the main risk is that a neglected example could bring more repair uncertainty than you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 121 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,388 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $11,451 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,530 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market is giving buyers more leverage today than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and maintenance records than to the badge alone. If you keep the car well documented and in strong shape, you should be better positioned when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.36/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.36/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a sensible choice if you want a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan and you can find one with a clean history and strong maintenance records. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years and focusing on the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
