Is the 2018 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Hyundai Sonata earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, value, and comfort, and many also highlight the spacious interior and smooth ride. That lines up well with its role as a roomy, well-equipped midsize sedan for shoppers who want a comfortable daily driver rather than something sporty.

With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful number of attractive options to consider.

Is the 2018 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback also points to the Sonata being reliable and a car many owners feel good about living with over time. The recurring praise for comfort and value suggests that, when you find a well-kept example, it can be a dependable everyday choice.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained properly and checked carefully before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 117 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,525 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $12,779 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,471 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has already absorbed a fair amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you're buying now and planning to own it for a while. For a future seller, it also means there may be less room for strong price growth unless market conditions improve.

Because the model has solid owner satisfaction and a reputation for comfort and value, it should continue to appeal to budget-conscious shoppers. That kind of demand can help support resale value, even if it does not make the Sonata a standout for holding value versus some rivals.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Sonata makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan and you can take advantage of the softer pricing in today's market. If you're especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2018 is the better path when you want a strong mix of value, comfort, and owner approval.
