Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its features, comfort, and overall value, and many owners also appreciate the technology and the condition of the vehicle even after substantial mileage. That lines up well with the Sonata’s role as a roomy, comfortable midsize sedan with a premium feel and generous equipment for the money. With 22.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe it as dependable and trouble-free, with owners noting that they can count on it even after substantial mileage. The feedback also points to strong long-term satisfaction, especially for shoppers who value comfort and features as much as day-to-day usability. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained carefully and checked thoroughly before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 131 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.42% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,720 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $10,839 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,664 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to last year's average. The Sonata’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand when it comes time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 22.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Sonata is the better pick if you want a well-equipped, comfortable midsize sedan and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you're especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a similar car offers a better asking price or a better-equipped listing for the money.
