Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 144 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.15% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,683 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $13,900 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,970 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. Because the current average is still within a relatively tight year-round band, well-kept examples should remain easier to position than vehicles with more volatile pricing. Strong owner satisfaction can also support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.15% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a well-equipped, practical Outback with strong owner approval and a softer price trend, the 2016 is a sensible choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a lower-priced example offers similar space and capability for less money.
