The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many shoppers, especially those who value a vehicle they can count on for daily use and family duty. That said, used buyers should still budget for the possibility of higher long-term maintenance costs than some rivals, which can affect ownership risk over time.

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 146 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $13,683 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $14,018 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,590 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to be realistic about pricing if they want to move the vehicle quickly. A softer market can put pressure on resale values in the near term, especially if comparable listings remain plentiful. Even so, the Outback’s broad appeal should help support demand among shoppers who want space, safety, and all-weather capability.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a roomy, all-weather used vehicle with strong owner approval and a softer price trend, the 2016 is a sensible primary choice. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, mileage, and asking price.
