That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of preserving value later because you are starting from a lower entry point. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Outback makes sense if you want a practical, roomy, all-weather used vehicle and you find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are more price-sensitive, you should still compare nearby model years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
