That softer pricing suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price carefully to stay competitive. Strong owner satisfaction can also help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 Outback makes sense if you want a practical, roomy, all-weather used vehicle and you find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are more price-sensitive, you should still compare nearby model years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
