Used 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD for Sale near Ontario

How much does the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD cost?

Prices have softened 8.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 185 listings available, which suggests you have a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD a good car?

Generally — the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD earns 4.2/5 from owners and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its professional-grade feel, impressive features, and strong value. The truck’s upscale cabin and serious capability also stand out, especially if you want a heavy-duty pickup that feels more refined than a typical work truck.

The trade-offs are clear: it can feel like overkill if you only need light towing, and the size makes it cumbersome in tight parking situations. It’s best suited to you if you want maximum towing strength, a luxury-leaning cabin, and a truck that can handle demanding work without feeling stripped down.

Only 24.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective rather than broadly discounted.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that feels capable and impressive in day-to-day use, with owners appreciating its professional-grade character and value. It also highlights concerns around the gas engine’s reliability over time, particularly carbon buildup issues, which is worth keeping in mind if you’re shopping used.

The expert drive notes that the powertrain feels refined, the transmission doesn’t hunt for gears, and the diesel setup delivers strong, confident performance. That combination suggests the truck is built to handle hard use well, but used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and how the truck was treated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Denali Ultimate sits at the top of the range and adds a luxury-heavy cabin, standard LED lighting, sequential turn signals, the MultiPro Tailgate, and the six-passenger Crew Cab layout. Lower trims won’t match that equipment level, so you should decide early whether you want the upscale features or just the core heavy-duty capability.
• Powertrain: The Denali Ultimate uses a 6.6-litre Duramax turbocharged diesel V8 with a 10-speed Allison automatic transmission and standard 4WD. It’s tuned for serious towing and strong acceleration, but it also comes with the size and fuel-use trade-offs you’d expect from a heavy-duty diesel truck.
• Safety package: The truck includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and a rear-facing cargo bed camera. On the Denali Ultimate, these features are standard.
• Infotainment: You get a 13.4-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless device charging, Google built-in, a 15-inch head-up display, and a 12-speaker Bose audio system. The truck also includes trailer-focused camera and guidance tech, which is especially useful if you tow often.
• Fuel efficiency: During long highway stints, the diesel dipped as low as 11.2 L/100 km, while suburban and city driving could climb well beyond 20 L/100 km.

Which 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD is offered in 7 trim levels: Pro, SLE, SLT, AT4, Denali, AT4X, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the entry point if you want the Sierra HD’s core capability without paying for luxury extras. It makes sense if your priority is work-truck utility and you plan to add only the equipment you actually need.
• SLE: This is the sensible step up if you want a bit more comfort and convenience than the Pro without jumping into the expensive upper trims. It should suit you if you want a more balanced daily-use heavy-duty truck.
• SLT: This is the better choice if you want a more polished cabin and a stronger mix of comfort and capability. It’s the trim to consider if you want a more premium feel without going all the way to Denali pricing.
• AT4: This is the off-road-oriented option in the range, and it’s the right fit if you want rugged hardware and a more adventurous personality. It’s also where 4WD becomes standard.
• Denali: This is the luxury-leaning trim for buyers who want a more upscale heavy-duty truck without the full top-tier price of the Denali Ultimate.
• AT4X: This is the upgraded off-road trim if you want the most rugged version of the Sierra HD lineup. It suits you if capability and trail-focused hardware matter more than luxury.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the best-value choice if you want the most complete version of the truck and are willing to pay for it. It brings nearly every available option, the strongest luxury presentation, and the most comprehensive tech and towing equipment.

The safety package is standard on the Denali Ultimate, while lower trims leave some of those driver-assistance features as optional equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 24.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 185 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $76,757 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD's resale value?

The current average of $78,928 CAD sits slightly below last year's $85,848 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market if prices continue to ease. If you buy now, you may benefit from the current dip, but resale upside will depend on how well the truck holds demand in the heavy-duty segment.

Because this model year combines strong capability with a premium image, well-equipped examples should remain easier to move than stripped-down trucks. Still, the current trend favours buyers more than sellers, so condition, mileage, and equipment will matter a lot when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD safe?

The 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes standard with automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, and lane departure warning. On the Denali Ultimate, additional equipment such as front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view parking camera, adaptive cruise control, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and a rear-facing cargo bed camera are standard as well.

The safety story is strongest on the top trim, where the full driver-assistance suite is included. If you shop lower trims, you’ll want to confirm which features are standard and which are optional before you buy.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Sierra 2500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 24.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The Denali Ultimate is newly added for 2024 and brings nearly every available option, along with strong towing capability and a more luxurious cabin.

The bottom line: If you want the most upscale version of the Sierra 2500HD and value the newly added Denali Ultimate, the 2024 is the one to target. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer similar heavy-duty capability for less money, but you’ll want to compare equipment carefully to make sure you’re not giving up the features that matter most to you.
