Used 2021 Toyota RAV4 for Sale nearNepean, ON

How much does the 2021 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices have softened 3.04% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 712 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Generally — you get a 4.43/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for used shoppers. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its reliability, comfort, fuel efficiency, spacious interior, safety features, handling, and value for money. In practical terms, that lines up well with its role as a compact crossover that blends rugged SUV styling with the car-based layout you expect for everyday use.

You also get a wide range of configurations, which helps if you want something practical, more rugged, or better equipped. The market shows 30.8% of listings as good or great deals, which is a decent sign of availability for value-minded buyers.

Is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.43/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, and the expert assessment also points to Toyota’s legendary reputation for reliability. The RAV4 is described as a solid performer in the important categories, which supports the idea that it should be easy to count on for regular use.

Toyota’s standard warranty coverage is fairly typical for the segment, so you should still pay attention to service history and maintenance records when shopping used. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about outright weakness and more about finding a well-kept example at a fair price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Toyota RAV4?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LE is the most straightforward choice, while XLE and Limited add more equipment. The Trail grade and TRD Off-Road package bring a more rugged look, with the TRD Off-Road adding matte black 18-inch alloy wheels, LED fog lights, red interior accents, and a TRD front skid plate. Lower trims are more basic, and material quality does not rise dramatically even as price climbs.
• Powertrain: The gasoline model uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available. The engine is efficient for its class, but the transmission and steering feel are less polished than the powertrain’s output suggests.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, road-sign recognition, and Lane Tracing Assist. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard. A 360-degree camera system is available as part of certain option packages.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a 7-inch touchscreen, while Trail and Limited models get an 8-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and the system is easy to use, though not especially flashy. Wireless smartphone connectivity and over-the-air capability are not mentioned.
• Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel drive models average 7.9 L/100 km combined. All-wheel drive versions range from 7.9 L/100 km combined on the LE to 8.5 L/100 km combined on the Trail TRD Off-Road.

Which 2021 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 5 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited, Trail, and TRD Off-Road.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the RAV4’s core strengths without paying for extras. It gives you the standard safety suite, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the 2.5-litre engine, making it the best fit if you care most about practicality and price.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it builds on the LE with a more appealing equipment mix, and it can be paired with the gasoline-only Premium package. If you want a nicer daily driver without jumping to the top end, this is the trim to focus on.
• Limited: Choose this if you want the most upscale gas RAV4 experience. It gets the larger 8-inch screen and more premium positioning, though the cabin still does not move into true luxury territory.
• Trail: This is the pick if you want the more rugged styling and off-road-oriented look. It adds distinctive exterior touches and is the trim tied to the TRD Off-Road package.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the most specialised gas model, with torque-vectoring all-wheel drive, model-specific suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, and extra ground clearance. It suits you best if you want the most rugged RAV4 setup rather than the most comfortable one.

The standard safety package is strong across the lineup, but headlight performance varies by trim and kept the RAV4 from earning the highest IIHS rating.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Toyota RAV4?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you know what you want.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 712 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $30,148 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $30,265 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,214 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also suggests future sellers may need to be realistic when listing their vehicle. If the market continues to normalise, resale values may stay under pressure unless the vehicle is especially well equipped or exceptionally clean.

The RAV4’s broad appeal should still support demand over time, especially because shoppers continue to value its reliability, safety, and practicality. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and service records should remain easier to move than less desirable trims or higher-priced listings.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.43/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2021 Toyota RAV4 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from the IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic high beams, road-sign recognition, and Lane Tracing Assist. Blind spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is also standard.

The main caveat is that mixed headlight performance kept it from the higher Top Safety Pick+ award, so you should pay attention to the specific trim’s lighting equipment.

Should I buy a 2021 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.43/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It adds the RAV4 Prime plug-in hybrid to the lineup and keeps the broad trim and powertrain range.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $28,205 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $30,265 CAD average.
• It offers broad usefulness with a wide range of configurations and strong everyday practicality.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,195 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $30,265 CAD average.
• It presents a more polished, mature compact SUV with a roomy, flexible interior and broad appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, choice, and proven appeal, the 2021 is the sensible target. If your priority is saving money, the 2020 is the better value play; if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling alternative, the 2022 is worth a look.
