Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, roomy interior, and ample safety features. The model also gets credit for its all-weather capability and the confidence it brings in challenging climates. That price movement suggests the market has become more buyer-friendly, which can make resale planning a little more challenging if you sell soon. If you buy at today's average, you may have less short-term price appreciation to lean on. Still, the Outback's strong owner satisfaction and practical appeal should help support steady demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.96/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.96/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,373 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,361 CAD average.
• It adds a larger touchscreen and updated sixth-generation design.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and a proven, well-liked package. If you can stretch your budget and want the newer-generation updates, the 2020 is the better alternative; if price matters most, the 2019 is the smarter buy.
