Is the 2019 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.96/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

That said, some owners mention oil maintenance between changes, so used buyers should pay close attention to service records and overall upkeep to reduce long-term ownership risk.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 237 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $20,138 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $20,211 CAD sits slightly below last year's $23,076 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Outback more attractive to buyers today but less favourable for sellers trying to maximise return. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current softness means your resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history. Strong demand for practical, all-weather vehicles should still help support interest, especially in regions where capability matters.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.96/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2019 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.96/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $23,409 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $20,211 CAD average.
• It adds a larger touchscreen and updated safety and powertrain options.

The bottom line:
Choose the 2019 if you want the better value and a proven, well-liked package. If you are price-sensitive, the 2019 is the smarter path; if you want newer tech and can stretch your budget, the 2020 is the better alternative.
