Is the 2017 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Kia Sorento earns a 4.6/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise the smooth ride, stylish interior, and comfort, and many also like the power from the V6 engine. For you, that makes it a sensible used SUV if you want a more polished family hauler with a roomy cabin and available features like smartphone integration and advanced safety tech. With 30.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still enough market value to make shopping worthwhile.

Is the 2017 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free experience for many drivers, with comments that suggest it can be a vehicle you feel comfortable counting on over the long term. Some owners did mention occasional engine issues, so a careful pre-purchase inspection still matters. For used buyers, that means the ownership risk looks manageable, but you should still prioritise service history and condition.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 248 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.91% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,595 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $12,879 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,788 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favourable point if you plan to keep the vehicle for a while. For a future seller, the softer pricing means there may be less upside than there was a year ago, especially if the vehicle accumulates mileage or shows wear. Still, the Sorento's broad appeal as a practical midsize SUV should help support steady demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Sorento is a strong choice if you want a well-rounded midsize SUV with a polished cabin, useful space, and solid owner approval. If your priority is value, the 2017 makes sense as the primary target because pricing has eased and there are enough listings to shop selectively. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby years to see whether a similar Sorento can save you more money without giving up the features you want.
