Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2016 Hyundai Sonata. Reviewers consistently praise its features, comfort, and overall value, and many owners also appreciate the technology and the vehicle’s condition even after substantial mileage. That lines up well with its role as a roomy, comfortable midsize sedan that was built to feel more upscale and better equipped than its price might suggest. With 25.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a solid chance of finding one that fits your budget.

Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe the Sonata as reliable, with comments that point to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience and confidence in the car even after substantial mileage. That kind of feedback suggests the model can be a sensible long-term choice if you find one that has been maintained properly.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been cared for well, since condition and maintenance history matter a lot over the long haul.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to shop carefully and wait for the right example.

• Deal availability: 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 150 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,728 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $11,016 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,409 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you purchase at a strong price and keep the car in good condition, you may be better positioned to protect your value later. The Sonata’s broad appeal as a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better pick if you want the strongest mix of value, comfort, and owner satisfaction in this part of the lineup. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2016 stands out as the safer starting point when you want a well-liked, well-equipped Sonata at a softened market price.
