Is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Hyundai Sonata earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Reviewers consistently praise its features, comfort, and overall value, and many also appreciate the technology and the condition of the vehicle even after substantial mileage. That lines up well if you want a midsize sedan that feels more upscale and better equipped than its price suggests, especially for everyday driving and value-focused shopping. Reviewers describe it as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, with many noting that it still feels solid even after substantial mileage. The feedback also points to strong long-term ownership confidence, especially for shoppers who want a comfortable, well-equipped sedan they can count on.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained properly and checked carefully before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Hyundai Sonata?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.32% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,729 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $10,971 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,370 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the car easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you plan to own it for a while, the current pricing gives you a lower entry point, but resale expectations should stay realistic. A well-kept example with strong equipment and clean history should still be easier to move than a neglected one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.32% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the best balance of value, equipment, and current market pricing. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby year with a lower asking price may be worth a look, but the 2016 stands out as the more compelling all-around pick when you want a well-equipped Sonata without overpaying.
