BMW 3 Series vs Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

The 2024 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid showcased a modern and sleek design with significant styling updates. Its front fascia was streamlined, featuring a single slim lightbar known as the “seamless horizon lamp,” which added a contemporary touch. The badge was repositioned above the grille, and the headlights were placed independently below it, creating a distinct look reminiscent of the Hyundai Ioniq 6, yet avoiding some of its more polarizing design elements. From the side, the 2024 Sonata maintained a similar profile to the 2023 model, with standard 18-inch alloy wheels on the Preferred-Trend trim and 19-inch wheels on the N Line trim in Canada. Inside, the dash was redesigned with vents flowing across it, and the gear shifter was moved to the steering column. The steering wheel was also updated to a T-shape with a unique Morse code “H” logo.

In contrast, the 2025 BMW 3 Series maintained a conservative design, aligning with BMW's strategy to avoid drastic changes for its historically significant model. The 3 Series received minor updates, including new paint colours, intricate wheel designs, restyled steering wheels, and dashboard revisions related to a technology upgrade. In Canada, the 3 Series was available as the 330i xDrive, M340i xDrive, and M3, each offering varying levels of power and performance. The xDrive system was standard on non-M versions. The test vehicle, a U.S.-spec 330i, featured an M Sport upgrade, adding styling changes, a sport-tuned suspension, and variable sport steering.
