2024 Toyota Sequoia Reviews Summary

The Toyota Sequoia gained a standard hybrid powertrain when it entered its third generation, just last year. While the tech updates were widely celebrated and the facelift considered unobjectionable even by its harshest critics, the move to hybrid power proved to be something of a mixed bag. Increased towing and hauling power bolstered the obvious advantage of improved fuel economy, but impact was somewhat dampened by the reduction in cargo and third-row space to accommodate the new battery.

Verdict: The Sequoia may not be the most capable full-size SUV in the segment, and it’s certainly not the most spacious. It is, however, the only hybrid in its class, and it offers a blend of seating capacity, towing power, and fuel efficiency you won’t find elsewhere—at least, not if you don’t want to go diesel.

2025 INFINITI QX80 Reviews Summary

The 2025 Infiniti QX80 is the Nissan luxury brand’s de facto flagship. It’s a full-size SUV that competes with the BMW X7, Cadillac Escalade, Land Rover Range Rover, Lexus LX, Lincoln Navigator, and Mercedes-Benz GLS. The QX80 benefits from a redesign for 2025 with new styling, a new powertrain, and updated tech features.

Verdict: The QX80 emphasizes interior space and tech gadgets over driving dynamics.

2025 INFINITI QX80

8/10

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia shared its platform with the Tundra pickup, featuring hexagonal grilles, wheel arches, and strong fender creases. Its muscular stance was complemented by exterior colours that significantly altered its appearance. The Capstone model, with its chrome accents, was presented in Celestial Silver, giving it a somewhat dated look reminiscent of a police vehicle. Inside, the Sequoia mirrored the Tundra's blocky, geometric dashboard design, with physical dials and buttons for climate control. The Capstone trim boasted semi-aniline leather upholstery, while other trims offered SofTex leatherette or standard leather. All models featured power-adjustable front seats and a moonroof, enhancing comfort and customization.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 underwent its first redesign since 2017, growing slightly in length and width. It retained its body-on-frame architecture, with improved torsional and lateral stiffness. The QX80's styling was more expressive, particularly at the front, with a large grille and stacked-headlight setup. The rear end maintained its shape but featured full-width LED taillights. The interior received a high-tech makeover with a large horizontal display and 64-colour ambient lighting. Luxe models had leather seats, while Sensory and Autograph trims offered semi-aniline leather. The QX80's design updates gave it a cleaner, more modern appearance.

2025 INFINITI QX80

6/10

The 2024 Toyota Sequoia was exclusively available as a hybrid, using the iForce MAX powertrain with a twin-turbo V6 and electric motor. This setup delivered 427 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, surpassing its V8 predecessor. Fuel economy improved to 11.7 L/100 km combined with 4WD. The Sequoia featured a part-time 4WD system with a 10-speed automatic transmission, offering smooth operation. The TRD Off-Road model included unique tires, off-road suspension, and driver-assist features like Crawl Control. Its towing capacity reached 4,137 kilograms, with optional towing upgrades available.

The 2025 INFINITI QX80 was powered by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6, producing 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. It replaced the previous 5.6-litre V8 and was paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission. The QX80 felt more energetic, though the active sound enhancement added an artificial noise. Standard air suspension and adaptive damping adjusted ride height and firmness, providing a compliant ride. The QX80 offered 25.4 cm of ground clearance in off-road mode and lowered for better aerodynamics. Despite its size, handling was average, typical for large SUVs.

Power-folding seats and a power liftgate facilitated reconfiguration. Passenger space was generous, with improved legroom in the first and third rows. Heated, ventilated, and massaging seats were available. The QX80's towing capacity reached 3,855 kilograms, slightly less than some competitors.
