Used 2024 Subaru Outback for Sale near Ontario

How much does the 2024 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 12.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 322 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — you rate it 4.5/5, and our experts give it 7.83/10. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

The Outback keeps the raised wagon shape that gives you SUV-like visibility and practicality without the bulk, and its broad trim range lets you choose between a straightforward version and a more premium feel. The trade-offs are that the base engine is underwhelming and the infotainment system feels dated.

With 33.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s standard all-wheel drive, comfortable ride, and strong safety focus all point to a vehicle built for dependable everyday use. Its base engine is described as underwhelming, but the turbocharged powertrain better manages the vehicle’s weight, which should make it feel more composed in regular driving.

Subaru also includes standard AWD across the range, which adds confidence for year-round Canadian use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a lower-trim example that feels underpowered for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Convenience trim keeps the dual-7-inch-screen system, cloth seats, a four-speaker sound system, and the standard black 17-inch alloy wheels, while higher trims add more upscale materials and equipment. The Premier XT stands out with Java Brown Nappa leather upholstery, the larger 11.6-inch portrait-oriented screen, and the most chrome exterior detailing.
• Powertrain: The default engine is a 2.5-litre flat-four with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, while XT trims and the Wilderness use a 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The turbo setup also increases towing capacity from 1,225 to 1,587 kilograms.
• Safety package: The EyeSight suite is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring, automatic pre-collision braking, and lane-keep assist. Touring adds automatic emergency steering, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert, while reverse automatic braking starts with Touring.
• Infotainment: The screen grows to 11.6 inches on most trims, while only Convenience keeps the dual-7-inch setup. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, wireless connectivity starts with Touring, and nearly every trim gets a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 9.2 L/100 km city, 7.3 highway, and 8.3 combined. The turbo engine is rated at 10.6 city, 8.1 highway, and 9.5 combined, while the Wilderness is rated at 11.0 city, 9.0 highway, and 10.1 combined.

Which 2024 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Outback is offered in 7 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the most affordable way into the Outback, but it also keeps the most basic cabin and tech setup, including cloth seats, the dual-7-inch-screen system, and the four-speaker audio system. It suits you if you want the Outback’s core practicality at the lowest price.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a larger audio system, and key safety upgrades such as automatic emergency steering, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking. If you want the smartest balance of equipment and price, this is the one to focus on.
• Onyx: This trim adds a more distinctive look with blacked-out styling and StarTex synthetic leather, making it a good fit if you want a tougher appearance and easier-to-clean interior materials.
• Limited: This trim moves you into a more premium-feeling cabin with standard leather seating surfaces and adds the driver-attention monitor. It suits you if comfort matters more than rugged styling.
• Wilderness: This is the choice for buyers who want the turbo engine plus extra capability, including 24.1 centimetres of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and dual-function X-Mode with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes.
• Limited XT: This trim combines the turbo engine with the Limited’s more upscale feel, making it a strong pick if you want extra power without going all the way to the top.
• Premier XT: This is the most luxurious version, with Nappa leather, the 11.6-inch screen, a CD player, a digital rearview mirror, and the driver-attention monitor. It is the right choice if you want the most premium Outback experience.

The Touring trim is the best-value pick for most buyers, while the Wilderness is the one to choose if you want the turbo engine and the most capability. Reverse automatic braking starts with Touring, and automatic emergency steering is also included from Touring upward.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 322 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,861 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $34,879 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,038 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means a future seller may face a more competitive market if prices stay under pressure. The current year-round range still leaves room for stronger examples to command more money, especially if they are well equipped and in desirable trims. A model with broad appeal and strong safety credentials should remain easier to move than a less practical alternative.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2024 Subaru Outback earned a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) gave it five stars overall.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The EyeSight suite is standard, so every Outback gets adaptive cruise control with lane-centring, automatic pre-collision braking, lane-keep assist, a backup camera, high-beam assist, and the new wide-angle camera. Touring adds automatic emergency steering, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and reverse automatic braking. Premier XT also gets a digital rearview mirror and a driver-attention monitor, while the latter is also included on Limited trims.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the wagon shape, adds feature-enriched trims, and pairs strong safety with broad practicality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,459 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,879 CAD average.
• It adds fresh styling, new infotainment and safety tech, and the Onyx Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $40,068 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,879 CAD average.
• It remains a distinctive wagon with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety ratings.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, broad trim choice, and updated features, the 2024 is the primary path to consider. If your budget is tighter, the 2023 is the better value play; if you want the newer model-year alternative and can spend more, the 2025 is worth a look.
