Used 2024 Subaru Outback for Sale near New Brunswick

How much does the 2024 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 13.46% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 314 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — 4.5/5 from owners and 7.83/10 from our experts point to a strong overall package. The 2024 Subaru Outback stands out by staying true to the raised station wagon formula, giving you a distinctive shape, excellent visibility, and a practical feel without moving to a larger SUV-style body. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the dated infotainment system. Even so, the broad trim range gives you flexibility, from a more affordable, no-nonsense version to a more upscale experience at a lower price point.

With 32.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s appeal is built around standard all-wheel drive, a comfortable ride, strong safety ratings, and a practical interior. The expert evaluation also points to a solid overall package, with the turbocharged powertrain better suited to the vehicle’s weight than the base engine. The performance notes also suggest the CVT is well matched to the Outback’s mission, and the ride quality benefits from the suspension tuning and substantial sidewalls.

On the cost side, the model’s value proposition is helped by standard AWD and a broad trim spread, and the top-trim test car’s premium equipment shows Subaru can deliver a more upscale feel when you move up the range.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a lower trim and ending up with the weaker engine and older-feeling tech.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Convenience and Touring use cloth seats, while Onyx and Wilderness get StarTex synthetic leather and the Limited trims add standard leather seating surfaces. The Premier XT brings the most chrome, a larger 11.6-inch portrait-oriented screen, and a more upscale interior feel.
• Powertrain: The default engine is a 2.5-litre flat-four with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, while XT trims and the Wilderness use a 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The turbo setup also raises towing capacity from 1,225 to 1,587 kilograms.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring, automatic pre-collision braking, and lane-keep assist. Touring adds automatic emergency steering, blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert. Reverse automatic braking starts with Touring, while the Limited trims add a driver-attention monitor and the Premier XT also gets a digital rearview mirror.
• Infotainment: Only the Convenience trim keeps the dual-7-inch-screen system. Touring and above get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the larger 11.6-inch portrait-oriented screen appears on higher trims. USB-C and USB-A ports are standard across the range.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 9.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.3 on the highway, and 8.3 combined. The turbo engine is rated at 10.6 city, 8.1 highway, and 9.5 combined. The Wilderness is rated at 11.0 city, 9.0 highway, and 10.1 combined.

Which 2024 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Outback is offered in 7 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the most affordable way into the Outback, but it is also the most basic, with cloth seats, the dual-7-inch-screen system, and a four-speaker sound system. It suits you if you want the Outback shape and standard AWD without paying for extras.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the larger infotainment setup, and more safety equipment, including automatic emergency steering and reverse automatic braking.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want a darker look and StarTex synthetic leather, plus the 18-inch black wheels. It is a style-focused step up without moving into the turbo models.
• Limited: This is the more upscale non-turbo choice, with standard leather seating surfaces and a more premium feel. It also gets the driver-attention monitor.
• Wilderness: This is the trim to choose if you want the turbo engine and the most off-road-focused setup, including 24.1 centimetres of ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and dual-function X-Mode.
• Limited XT: This is the best-value turbo trim if you want the stronger engine without going all the way to the top. It combines the turbo powertrain with a more premium cabin.
• Premier XT: This is the most luxurious version, with the 11.6-inch screen, CD player, digital rearview mirror, driver-attention monitor, and the most chrome exterior detailing.

Touring is the key trim to watch for safety and convenience upgrades, while Wilderness is the one to target if you want the turbo engine and the most rugged hardware.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 314 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $34,864 CAD sits slightly below last year's $40,288 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Outback more attractive to used buyers today. For a future seller, that also means you may need to price competitively if you want to move the vehicle quickly. The good news is that the Outback’s broad appeal, standard AWD, and practical wagon format should help it remain relevant with shoppers who want something different from a conventional crossover.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the wagon-like shape, strong safety ratings, and broad trim range.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,862 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,864 CAD average.
• It adds fresh styling, new infotainment and safety tech, and the Onyx Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $40,033 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,864 CAD average.
• It remains a practical wagon with standard AWD and strong safety ratings.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and trim choice, the 2024 is the primary pick. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter value play, while the 2025 makes sense only if you want to pay more for a newer model-year alternative.
