There are 762 listings available, which suggests you should have a solid range of used Civic options to compare.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Honda Civic earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, and safety, and they also like its stylish appearance and good fuel economy. In use, it fits well if you want a compact car that feels more upscale than its price suggests, with a balance of value, performance, and everyday practicality. With 29.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a decent amount of market value to find if you shop carefully.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to reliability, and the Civic is also described as a car that has been consistently good for more than 45 years. The expert assessment reinforces that impression by noting smooth, refined engines and a chassis that feels composed and confidence-inspiring in daily driving. Honda also positions the Civic as a safe, comfortable, and reliable car for commuting and ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-kept Civic may still carry a premium, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Civic lineup includes a wide range of versions, and the base trims are the ones most likely to miss some of the nicer touches. Higher trims add features such as LED headlights, navigation, and the top-tier audio system, while the Touring trim is the only one called out for those items.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre inline four-cylinder in the lower trims, while Touring models use a turbocharged 1.5-litre inline-four. The turbo engine is the better pick if you want quicker response and stronger mid-range acceleration, and the CVT is described as impressively well behaved.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with forward collision warning and emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The system includes standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Bluetooth. Honda’s Garmin-based navigation is a highlight, and LaneWatch is available on certain trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo engine is described as the better choice for response and mid-range acceleration, while the CVT avoids the strained feel some rivals can have.

Which 2019 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2019 Honda Civic is offered in 7 trim levels: DX, LX, EX, Sport, Touring, Si, and Type R.

Here's the short version:

• DX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Civic’s core value and driving character at the lowest cost.
• LX: This is the best-value starting point for many shoppers because it keeps the Civic’s essentials while staying closer to the affordable end of the range.
• EX: Choose this if you want a more polished daily driver with more comfort and convenience than the lower trims.
• Sport: This is the trim to consider if you want a little more visual flair and a sportier feel without jumping to the performance models.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich mainstream trim, with the strongest equipment list for buyers who want the nicest Civic without going to the Si or Type R.
• Si: Pick this if you want the enthusiast-focused version with much stronger performance and a manual-only personality.
• Type R: This is the extreme performance choice, aimed at buyers who want the most powerful and track-oriented Civic experience.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some confidence if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 762 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $18,455 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $18,626 CAD sits slightly below last year's $20,336 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive resale environment if the market stays loose. The Civic’s broad appeal, strong reputation, and high owner satisfaction should still support demand over time. Even so, a seller will likely do best with a well-maintained example, especially one with desirable equipment and clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Honda Civic safe?

The Honda Civic earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA categories, with the exception of four stars for the coupe's passenger-side frontal crash rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on every trim level except the Si and Type R. It includes forward-collision alert with forward collision warning and emergency braking, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. That makes the Civic especially appealing if you want a compact car with a strong active-safety package built in. The main caveat is the coupe’s lower passenger-side frontal crash result.

Should I buy a 2019 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 29.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 keeps the Civic’s winning formula of style, value, and performance with only minor tweaks.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $20,031 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $18,626 CAD average.
• It adds more standard safety and convenience features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2019 is the smarter buy. If you can stretch for a newer model and want a few extra standard features, the 2020 is worth a look. For most price-sensitive shoppers, though, the 2019’s lower average price and strong market support make it the more compelling choice.
