How much does the 2019 Hyundai Elantra cost?

There are 458 listings available, which suggests a reasonable amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2019 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Cost effectiveness and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its impressive features, smooth acceleration, and comfortable interior. You also get strong everyday usefulness from the spacious trunk and driving assist features, which fits the Elantra’s role as a practical compact sedan with a strong value proposition. That said, the appeal is strongest if you want value and convenience more than engaging driving dynamics.

Good and great deals account for 30.1% of listings, so you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with smooth operation, comfortable commuting manners, and features that make it easy to count on for errands and longer trips. The expert assessment also frames it as a value-focused sedan that delivers quality and usefulness without much drama. Hyundai’s five-year or 100,000-kilometre warranty coverage and five years of roadside assistance add another layer of ownership confidence.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether the car’s modest driving character and cabin compromises suit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 Hyundai Elantra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The sedan is sold as Essential, Preferred, Luxury, Sport, and Ultimate trims. The base Essential misses some equipment that appears on higher trims, while the Ultimate adds the most upscale features, including adaptive cruise control, navigation, a larger 8-inch touchscreen, and Safe Exit Assist.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 132 lb-ft of torque, paired with a six-speed automatic in this test vehicle. The car is tuned more for everyday use than excitement, and acceleration is acceptable rather than brisk.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist are included starting with the Preferred trim. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-monitoring system can be added through the Sun and Safety Package, and those features are standard on higher trims. Ultimate also adds adaptive cruise control, pedestrian-detection enhancement, and Safe Exit Assist.
• Infotainment: Versions above the base Essential get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Ultimate upgrades to an 8-inch display, navigation, and an Infinity premium sound system with Clari-Fi digital music restoration technology.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Elantra uses 7.4 L/100 km in combined driving with the automatic transmission, or 8.0 L/100 km with the manual.

Which 2019 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, Sport, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but you give up some of the convenience and safety equipment that appears on higher trims, so it makes the most sense if your priority is keeping the purchase price as low as possible.
• Preferred: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds important driver-assistance equipment while keeping the Elantra’s value-first appeal intact.
• Luxury: This trim adds satellite radio and the free trial subscription, making it a good fit if you want a more polished daily driver without jumping all the way to the top.
• Sport: The content identifies this as the turbocharged version, so it is the one to consider if you want the more energetic Elantra.
• Ultimate: This is the most fully equipped version, with adaptive cruise control, pedestrian-detection braking, navigation, the larger touchscreen, and Safe Exit Assist.

Higher trims also bring more safety equipment, while the Sun and Safety Package adds useful driver-assistance features on lower trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some patience and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 458 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.06% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,214 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $12,214 CAD sits slightly below last year's $15,472 CAD.

That softer pricing means future sellers may face more competition if the market stays buyer-friendly. If you own one, the current trend suggests you should expect value to be driven more by condition, trim, and equipment than by broad market appreciation. Well-equipped examples with the right safety and convenience features should be easier to position than bare-bones versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2019 Hyundai Elantra gets top marks across the board from IIHS, except for an Acceptable rating for the accessibility of its LATCH child-seat anchors. The government gives the car a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, thanks to four-star frontal-impact results combined with a four-star side-impact protection rating for rear-seat occupants.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety story is strong for a compact sedan. Starting with the Preferred trim, you get forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and a driver-monitoring system can be added through the Sun and Safety Package, and those features are standard on higher trims. Ultimate adds adaptive cruise control, pedestrian-detection enhancement, and Safe Exit Assist.

The main caveat is the Acceptable LATCH result, which is worth noting if you regularly install child seats.

Should I buy a 2019 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 21.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 update brings a more polished feel and stronger value focus.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $14,676 CAD, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $12,214 CAD average.
• It adds improved fuel efficiency and newly packaged safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better bargain, the 2019 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and solid equipment. If you are willing to pay more for a newer outgoing model with added value features, the 2020 is the alternative to compare.
