How much does the 2018 Subaru Outback cost?

Is the 2018 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Subaru Outback earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise the smooth ride, strong safety features, and ample cargo space, and many also like its all-weather capability and everyday practicality. That makes it a good fit if you want a roomy, comfortable vehicle that can handle family duty, commuting, and rough weather with ease. With 28.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some market flexibility if you shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, especially those who value the Outback’s long-term usefulness and all-weather confidence. Some shoppers do mention infotainment and navigation frustrations, so you should pay attention to how the cabin tech works in any used example you consider. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core vehicle formula and more about making sure the specific example has been well maintained and that its electronics behave as expected.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be patient and compare listings before committing.

• Deal availability: 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 182 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.18% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $16,606 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $16,742 CAD sits slightly below last year's $19,509 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Outback easier to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at the right price, you may be better positioned to absorb future depreciation. The model’s broad appeal and practical reputation should help support demand, but resale will still depend heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 28.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.18% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Subaru Outback makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, capable, and well-liked used vehicle and you can find one priced near the lower end of the market. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is worth comparing nearby model years and choosing the best-maintained example rather than focusing only on the badge year.
