love my car so far, very smooth driving and the bluetooth is a nice feature as well as the heated seats, my model doesn’t have the sunroof which is a bummer but overall the vehicle is a beaut. very spacious for me and my dogs when we travel in the car for extended periods of time; and ample trunk space for anything we may pick up on the way.

Tranny problem, I took it for a test drive when driving at highway speed 100km and accelerating to pass transmission would go into neutral or not downshift into the correct gear.

Call me biased, but I don’t see why everyone doesn’t go for this car. Meets all my needs and it’s reliable, relatively affordable, and sleek looking, what more could I want

Why it stands out
The 2018 Subaru Outback stands out as a practical, roomy vehicle with a strong reputation for all-weather capability. Subaru’s standard all-wheel drive and generous ground clearance are central to its appeal, and the Outback’s long-running focus on safety and utility makes it a natural fit for buyers who want something more versatile than a conventional family car. It also has a loyal following, helped by the model’s reputation for durability and its ability to handle light off-road use with confidence.
For 2018, the Outback’s cabin and equipment are a major part of the story. The model offered a basic but usable infotainment setup, with a standard 6.5-inch screen on the lower trims and an optional 8-inch unit on higher trims, and the latter was the first to run Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. EyeSight driver-assist technology was also part of the package on upper trims, bringing features such as adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. That said, the continuously variable transmission can be droning and the fuel economy is not class-leading, so the Outback’s strengths are more about comfort, capability, and everyday usefulness than outright driving excitement.
Owners’ praise for the 2018 model lines up closely with those strengths, especially the smooth ride, strong safety equipment, and generous cargo space. Some also appreciate the available six-cylinder engine for its extra power. On the downside, there are complaints about the navigation and infotainment systems, and some drivers mention limited interior lighting at night.
