Is the 2018 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Kia Soul earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability and great value for the price, and many also highlight its enjoyable style and features. That fits the Soul’s role as a practical subcompact hatchback with quirky styling, useful packaging, and a cabin designed to be more functional than flashy. With 32.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2018 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to reliability and a trouble-free ownership experience as part of the appeal, alongside strong value for the price. That said, some drivers mention practical annoyances such as limited space between the accelerator and brake pedals and the absence of a spare tyre. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dissatisfaction and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and suits your day-to-day needs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 130 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.48% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,433 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $11,818 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,351 CAD.

That price movement suggests the 2018 Soul has softened enough to give buyers more leverage today, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy well now, the lower entry cost can help offset some depreciation later. The Soul’s broad appeal as a practical, characterful small car should still support demand, especially among shoppers who value space and personality over a conventional hatchback shape.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 32.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.48% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current market softness, the 2018 is a sensible year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years and focus on whichever one gives you the cleanest history and the strongest asking price relative to condition.
