Is the 2018 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2018 Kia Soul earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its reliability and great value for the price, and many also highlight its enjoyable style and features. That fits the Soul’s role as a practical subcompact hatchback with quirky styling, useful packaging, and a personality that still feels value-conscious. Is the 2018 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to reliability and dependable day-to-day use, with comments that suggest this is a car many people feel comfortable counting on. The same feedback highlights good value and a trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, which matters if you want a used car that can serve you well over the long term. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about the model’s appeal and more about checking that a specific example has been maintained properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2018 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 129 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.72% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,429 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2018 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $11,635 CAD sits slightly below last year's $13,331 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Soul is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly, which can make it easier for you to buy well but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you own one, the recent price decline means the market is valuing this model a bit more cautiously than it did a year ago. Even so, the Soul’s practical packaging and strong owner satisfaction help support steady demand from shoppers who want something distinctive and useful.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2018 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2018 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2018 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2018 Kia Soul makes sense if you want a practical, characterful used hatchback with strong owner approval and a market that currently favours careful shoppers. If your priority is getting the best possible value, the 2018 is a sensible primary target; if you are especially price-sensitive, you should also compare nearby model years to see whether a lower-priced example offers similar equipment and condition.
