Is the 2017 Kia Soul a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Kia Soul earns a 4.75/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its great value, good fuel economy, comfortable ride, and spacious interior, and many also like the modern features it offers. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a small, affordable vehicle that still feels practical and distinctive. Is the 2017 Kia Soul reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with drivers describing the Soul as a good-value vehicle that delivers a comfortable ride and good fuel economy over time. That combination suggests it can be a sensible used buy if you want something you can count on for everyday use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the core appeal and more about finding one that has been maintained well and still feels fresh inside.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Kia Soul?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 126 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.75% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,285 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Kia Soul's resale value?

The current average of $10,815 CAD sits slightly below last year's $12,836 CAD.

That price movement suggests the 2017 Soul has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now and planning to sell later. If the market stays steady, a lower entry price today can reduce the amount of value you lose over your ownership period. The Soul’s broad appeal as a practical, distinctive small vehicle should also help keep it relevant with used shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Kia Soul or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 Kia Soul is the better pick if you want a well-liked, practical, and value-oriented used hatchback with a strong mix of space and personality. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, you may also want to compare nearby years and focus on the best-priced examples, especially those near the lower end of the current range.
