Is the 2016 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 4.94/5 user rating points to very strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its reliability, power, and features, and many also highlight the comfortable ride and spacious interior. It also fits well if you want a rugged midsize SUV with off-road capability, everyday practicality, and strong resale value. With 31.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, long-lasting performance, and a vehicle you can count on over time. That reputation is reinforced by comments about its durable construction and dependable nature, even as some shoppers note the lack of certain modern conveniences.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about basic dependability and more about whether the truck-like design and older feature set still suit your needs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 88 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.22% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,907 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $29,310 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,646 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means future sellers may face a softer starting point than owners did a year ago. Even so, the 4Runner’s reputation for durability and strong owner satisfaction helps support demand. If you keep mileage reasonable and the vehicle well maintained, you are more likely to preserve value than with a less sought-after SUV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.22% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2016 if you want the 4Runner’s core strengths — rugged construction, strong owner approval, and a market that has become a bit more favourable for buyers. If you are especially price-sensitive, it is also worth comparing nearby years to see whether a similar truck is listed closer to the lower end of the range, but the 2016 remains a sensible target if you value long-term appeal and proven durability.
