Used 2025 Toyota 4Runner for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2025 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 2.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 104 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Toyota 4Runner earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

It is aimed at you if you want a more capable, more comfortable, and more technologically current SUV without losing the 4Runner’s rugged identity. The redesign brings a more composed on-road feel, stronger powertrain choices, and a more contemporary cabin and exterior.

The main trade-offs are limited rear-seat space and some road noise from the Trailhunter’s snorkel. If you need a family-friendly adventure SUV and can live with those compromises, it makes a strong case.

30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is presented as a durable, capability-focused SUV with Toyota’s reliability reputation behind it. The redesign keeps the formula intact while adding more capability, power, comfort, and technology, which should help it feel more modern without losing the toughness buyers expect.

Its standard four-cylinder and available hybrid powertrain are both described as strong, with the hybrid adding more usable low-speed power for off-road use. The standard engine is also said to be quieter inside than before, which should help reduce fatigue on longer drives.

Toyota’s reputation for reliability and the model’s simpler, truck-based mission should appeal if you want a vehicle built for long-term use. For used buyers, the main ownership risk is that a first-year redesign can bring more uncertainty than a carryover model.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 4Runner’s styling is more industrial and purposeful, and the cabin uses plenty of hard plastic for durability. Base trims are more utilitarian, while higher trims add more refinement and capability.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder or a Hybrid i-Force Max setup. The hybrid adds stronger low-speed power and is the preferred choice if you want more usable performance.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard, with frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, Proactive Driving Assist, and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. Proactive Driving Assist can be disabled if you find it intrusive.
• Infotainment: An 8-inch touchscreen is standard, a 14-inch screen is available, and both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wireless. A charging pad is also offered, and a digital instrument panel is included with all Hybrid variants.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard four-cylinder is estimated at 12.4 L/100 km in the city, 9.6 on the highway, and 11.2 combined. The Hybrid is estimated at 10.3 L/100 km city, 9.5 highway, and 9.9 combined.

Which 2025 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 8 trim levels: SR5, Limited, Platinum, TRD Off-Road Premium, TRD Pro, Trailhunter, and the hybrid versions of the Limited and Platinum packages.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the 4Runner’s core ruggedness at the lowest price. It gives you the standard powertrain and the full Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite, but it is the least lavishly equipped.
• Limited: This is a better fit if you want a more polished daily driver, and it can be paired with full-time 4WD. It adds a more upscale feel while keeping the 4Runner’s capability intact.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most comfort-oriented version of the gas lineup, with the same full-time 4WD availability and a more premium overall presentation.
• TRD Off-Road Premium: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds serious off-road ability without jumping all the way to the most expensive adventure trims. It is described as impressively capable and well suited to challenging terrain.
• TRD Pro: Pick this if you want the most capable adventure-focused version in the lineup. It is one of the top off-road models and is aimed at buyers who want maximum trail ability.
• Trailhunter: This is the other top adventure trim, and it is built for serious off-road use. It is highly capable, though the snorkel can add wind noise on the road.
• Limited Hybrid: This is the better choice if you want the Limited’s comfort and full-time 4WD availability with the stronger hybrid powertrain and better fuel economy.
• Platinum Hybrid: Choose this if you want the most premium version with the hybrid powertrain and the added efficiency it brings.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 104 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.13% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $69,656 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $70,004 CAD sits slightly below last year's $71,530 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is still adjusting to the redesigned model. If demand stays healthy, the 4Runner’s rugged image and strong capability should help support values.

The current price range also suggests there is still room for depreciation to normalise as more used examples reach the market. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, the model’s broad appeal should help it remain competitive later on.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2025 Toyota 4Runner does not yet have crash test results from either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

All 4Runner models come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite of advanced safety features that include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, and automatic high beams. It also includes Proactive Driving Assist, which can be disabled, plus a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert in Canada.

The main caveat is that official crash testing has not yet been published for this model year, so you are relying on the standard safety equipment and Toyota’s broader safety reputation for now.

Should I buy a 2025 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings a redesigned body, more capability, more comfort, and more technology.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $57,452 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $70,004 CAD average.
• It is rugged, reliable, and especially appealing if all-terrain ability matters more than modern polish.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It offers more passenger capacity than the Wrangler and Bronco, plus better fuel economy from an available hybrid.

The bottom line: If you want the newest design, stronger powertrain choices, and better on-road manners, the 2025 is the better all-round pick. If price matters most, the 2024 is the value play, while the 2026 is worth a look if you want the same adventure-first formula with a slightly different family-friendly angle.
