Yes — the 2016 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.94/5 user rating, which points to very strong owner satisfaction. That lines up well with its rugged, body-on-frame design and standard 4WD in Canada, especially if you want durability and trail capability more than a car-like crossover feel. Is the 2016 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly highlights reliability, long-lasting performance, and a trouble-free ownership experience, which is exactly the kind of language you want to hear when shopping used. The 4Runner’s reputation for durability also fits its body-on-frame construction and off-road-focused setup. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about whether it can last and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not overused in demanding conditions.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota 4Runner?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 87 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,905 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $28,751 CAD sits slightly below last year's $31,997 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. The 4Runner’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for long-lasting performance should help support demand over time. Even so, resale value will still depend on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the 4Runner’s rugged construction, standard 4WD, and proven ownership appeal without paying peak pricing. If you’re focused on value, this year deserves a close look because the market has softened and there are enough listings to compare. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may also want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs any differences in equipment or condition.
