Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Jeep Cherokee earns 4.1/5, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Drivers commonly praise its sporty feel, comfortable interior, and adequate power, and many also like its convenient size and features. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want a compact SUV with everyday comfort and a bit of Jeep character. With 28.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.1/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to dependable day-to-day use for many shoppers, with the Cherokee often described as comfortable and satisfying over time. At the same time, some drivers raised concerns about build quality, especially around the engine and transmission, so you should pay close attention to service records and test-drive behaviour. For used buyers, that means the long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you choose carefully.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Jeep Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings and wait for the right example.

• Deal availability: 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 335 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,885 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $11,885 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,189 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Cherokee easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, the current pricing trend means you should be realistic about depreciation and focus on buying well. A clean history and strong maintenance records matter more when the market has softened.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.1/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 28.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.1/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want a well-liked Cherokee with softer pricing and enough inventory to shop around. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still be worth comparing, but the 2016 is the better starting point when you want a balance of owner satisfaction and current market value.
