Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 4.12/5 user rating points to a model that many owners have found worthwhile. Drivers commonly praise its sporty feel, comfortable interior, and adequate power, and the Cherokee’s size and features make it appealing if you want a compact SUV that feels easy to live with. The overview also shows that it was aimed at shoppers who wanted everyday convenience with some genuine Jeep character, including available off-road capability on certain trims. With 27.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.12/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback does raise some reliability concerns around build quality, especially with the engine and transmission. At the same time, the same feedback also points to a vehicle that many drivers still appreciate for its comfort and usability, which suggests the ownership experience can be positive if you choose carefully. For used buyers, that means long-term risk is worth managing with a thorough inspection and a close look at service history.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Jeep Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 343 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.92% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,011 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $12,169 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,138 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one now, the softer pricing trend can limit upside in the near term, especially if similar listings remain plentiful. On the other hand, a well-kept example with the right equipment and a clean history should still attract interest from shoppers looking for value in a compact SUV.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.12/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.92% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.12/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want a Cherokee with a strong mix of comfort, sporty feel, and available Jeep character, the 2016 is a sensible place to focus. If your priority is stretching your budget, you may also want to compare nearby years and shop for the best-priced example rather than locking onto this one year alone.
