Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 4.12/5 user rating suggests you can feel reasonably confident shopping this model year. Drivers commonly praise its sporty feel, comfortable interior, and adequate power, and many also like its convenient size and features. In practical terms, that lines up well if you want a compact SUV with everyday usability, available all-weather traction, and a distinctive design. With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.12/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a vehicle that many owners found dependable enough for daily use, with comfort and convenience standing out alongside the Jeep character. At the same time, some drivers raised concerns about build quality, especially around engine and transmission reliability, so used buyers should pay close attention to service records and test-drive behaviour before committing. For long-term ownership, that means the biggest risk is not the cabin or feature set, but whether the drivetrain has been consistently maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Jeep Cherokee?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 333 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $11,979 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $11,984 CAD sits slightly below last year's $14,176 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Cherokee more approachable for you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it also means there may be less upside if prices continue to normalise, especially if you buy near the current average rather than at the low end of the range. On the other hand, a lower entry price can help cushion depreciation if you plan to keep the vehicle for a few years.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.12/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.12/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is the better pick if you want a Cherokee with a strong value position, decent inventory, and owner feedback that supports everyday use. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can also use the softer market to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained example rather than the newest badge.
