Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox earns a 4.47/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction for this model year. Owners most often praise the spacious interior, the long list of features, and the strong value for money, while the comfortable ride also comes up repeatedly. For you, that makes it a sensible pick if you want an affordable compact SUV with useful everyday convenience features and plenty of room for passengers and cargo. 24.2% of listings are marked as good or great deals, so there is still some market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox reliable?

Owners rate it 4.47/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that many people find dependable in daily use, with praise for comfort, convenience, and confidence in tough conditions. At the same time, the model’s reputation is shaped by serious engine-related complaints, so reliability depends heavily on how well a specific used example has been maintained. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is real enough that a careful inspection and service-history review should be part of your decision.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Equinox?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings closely.

• Deal availability: 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 161 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.68% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $10,775 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Equinox's resale value?

The current average of $10,793 CAD sits slightly below last year's $11,565 CAD.

That kind of decline suggests the market has softened, which can make the Equinox easier to buy now but less favourable if you are thinking about future resale. If you purchase at the right price, you may reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The model’s value story is strongest when you buy below market and keep maintenance records in order. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.47/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Equinox or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.47/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should consider the 2016 if you want a roomy, well-equipped compact SUV and you can verify that the specific vehicle has been maintained carefully. If you are especially price-sensitive, the softer market and decent deal availability make this a year worth watching closely, but you should still prioritise condition and service history over the lowest sticker price.
