2025 Chevrolet Traverse Reviews Summary

Redesigned in 2024, the 2025 Traverse gets a few additional changes. The formerly optional Trailering Package is now standard equipment — so it’s easier to take advantage of the Traverse’s 2,268-kilogram (5,000-pound) towing capacity — and a new Sun and Wheel Package is available. Those updates broaden this Chevy’s appeal but do not address perceived quality issues related to the powertrain and interior materials.

Verdict: Chevy gets a lot of things right with the 2025 Traverse. However, there are head-scratchers related to quality and usability. From the unpleasant engine note and cheap interior plastics to the fussy wiper controls and aggravating third row folding process, the Traverse regularly draws unfavourable attention to itself.

2026 Lexus TX Reviews Summary

You may not have heard much about the Lexus TX, the company’s full-size three-row SUV. Introduced for the 2024 model year, it’s still a young’un compared to its competition, but it’s made its mark by offering a spacious interior and two different powertrains, wrapped in a stylish package.

In Lexus’s seven-model SUV lineup, the TX slots just below the GX and LX—two body-on-frame models focused on off-roading. In Canada, you can snag a gas-powered TX or one with a hybrid powertrain. (Note the test unit for this review, the 550h+ plug-in hybrid, is not yet available in Canada. Lexus plans to sell it here, but not in time for the 2026 model year).

Verdict: The 2026 Lexus TX is a great option for large families that need a spacious third row, but some of the technology comes with a steep learning curve.

2025 Chevrolet Traverse

7/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse was a testament to Chevrolet's knack for crafting visually appealing SUVs, both inside and out. Its exterior styling was generally well-received, with the bowtie badge adding a touch of class. Inside, the Traverse featured digital instrumentation and a Google-based infotainment system, which were standard across the lineup. However, the interior materials left much to be desired, with hard, glossy plastics and unconvincing Evotex artificial leather detracting from the overall quality, especially given the Traverse's price point.

In contrast, the 2026 Lexus TX offered a more refined aesthetic, with a large grille and sharp bi-LED headlights that commanded attention. The rear LED lighting and optional roof rails added to its sleek design. Inside, the TX provided three interior colour options and ambient lighting, though it fell short of luxury standards due to the presence of basic plastics. The redesigned door handles were a novel feature, but they seemed unnecessary compared to more pressing interior quality improvements.

Performance

2025 Chevrolet Traverse

6/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse was powered by a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, producing 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. This engine provided ample power, especially when all-wheel drive was engaged, allowing for rapid and controlled acceleration. The Z71 trim, designed for off-road adventures, featured increased ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and a Twin Clutch AWD system. Despite its off-road capabilities, the Traverse Z71 excelled in everyday driving, offering a smoother ride on rough roads. Fuel efficiency was commendable, with the test vehicle averaging 10.9 L/100 km.

The 2026 Lexus TX offered two powertrain options: a 275-horsepower 2.4-litre turbocharged engine in the TX 350 and a 366-horsepower hybrid system in the TX 500h. The gas model featured an eight-speed automatic transmission, while the hybrid used a six-speed automatic. Both models came with all-wheel drive, with the TX 500h utilizing Lexus's Direct4 AWD system. The TX provided Normal, Eco, and Sport drive modes, with Sport mode enhancing throttle response. The 500h's adaptive suspension and rear steering improved handling, though the TX was not designed as a sports car.

Form and function

2025 Chevrolet Traverse

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse boasted impressive interior space, with a wide cabin that accommodated eight passengers. The front seats were comfortable, with standard heated features in Canada. The second-row captain's chairs offered good support, though the lack of side window shades was a drawback. The third row was spacious enough for adults, but the view was obstructed by the rear window design. Cargo space was generous, with up to 2,764 litres available when the rear seats were folded, though folding the third row required some maneuvering.

The 2026 Lexus TX excelled in interior comfort, with standard three-zone climate control and heated seats across all models. The second row featured captain's chairs with a removable centre console, while the third row offered ample space and a recline function. Access to the third row was facilitated by a one-touch button, though folding the second row flat was cumbersome. The TX provided excellent cargo space, with up to 2,747 litres available when all rear seats were folded. The liftgate's kick sensor added convenience, and the TX could tow up to 2,268 kilograms when properly equipped.

Technology

2025 Chevrolet Traverse

10/10

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse impressed with its 17.7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, featuring Google Built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and SiriusXM 360L satellite radio. The system was user-friendly, with effective voice recognition and a simple interface. The digital instrumentation panel offered customizable views, and optional features like the digital rearview mirror and surround-view camera system enhanced convenience.

The 2026 Lexus TX's technology was a mixed bag. The 14-inch touchscreen was responsive, but some features lacked polish, such as the inability to manually input satellite radio stations. The steering wheel controls were confusing, and smartphone connectivity occasionally conflicted with the native audio system. Subscription services were required for in-dash navigation and other features. However, the TX offered a clear back-up camera, Advanced Park system, and ample USB ports for device charging.

Safety

2026 Lexus TX

7/10

The 2025 Chevrolet Traverse came equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver aids, including adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and lane-keep assist. The Enhanced Driving Package added Super Cruise, a hands-free driving assist system, and remote-parking technology. The Traverse received a five-star overall safety rating from the NHTSA and a "Top Safety Pick" award from the IIHS.

The 2026 Lexus TX featured the Safety System+ 3.0, which included forward collision warning, lane tracing assist, and Proactive Driving Assist. While adaptive cruise control worked well, the steering wheel controls were confusing. The TX received a five-star safety rating from the NHTSA and an "Acceptable" score from the IIHS for its small overlap front crash test.
