2024 Chevrolet Traverse Reviews Summary

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse has gone from being something of a wallflower to becoming one of the more stand-out choices among midsize SUVs with three rows of seating. That’s because Chevrolet’s design and engineering team did its homework when it came time to update this third generation of the Traverse, a model that has featured in the brand’s lineup since its introduction back for the 2009 model year.

The 2024 Chevy Traverse is taller, wider, and longer than the outgoing variant. It’s also much more memorable to look at; following current SUV trends, Chevrolet gave the Traverse a more rugged appearance that borrows from both the full-size Tahoe SUV and Sierra pickup truck. Styling is always subjective, but in this instance, we think it’s fair to say Chevy got things right.

Verdict: More important than any additional visual bravado is that the 2024 Traverse has been improved in countless other ways. It has more standard driver aids, such as blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. There is more space for passengers, particularly those seated in the third row. And the infotainment system gets a much larger touchscreen.

2025 Lincoln Aviator Reviews Summary

In the midsize three-row luxury SUV segment, the 2025 Aviator embraces the mid-century modern cues of the past while delivering a calm, unhurried sanctuary for the present. Yet starting in 2025, this Lincoln simultaneously contains some of the most advanced technology in its segment. Fresh styling and new thematic packages are also available. However, the previously offered plug-in hybrid model has not been reintroduced to the lineup, leaving a twin-turbocharged V6 as the sole engine option.

Verdict: Distinctive without resorting to polarization, the 2025 Lincoln Aviator is a compelling choice for people seeking a powerful, quiet, and comfortable luxury SUV. It’s been around since 2019, yet you can’t consider this Lincoln to be a relic thanks to its undeniable technological sophistication.

2024 Chevrolet Traverse

8/10

2025 Lincoln Aviator

8/10

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse was available in three trims in Canada: LT, Z71, and RS. The Z71 was a new addition, designed for those seeking a three-row SUV with moderate off-roading capabilities. Chevrolet emphasized that the Z71 was not intended to compete with hardcore off-roaders like the Jeep Wrangler or Ford Bronco but was capable of handling reasonably rugged terrain. The Traverse's pricing was competitive, with the LT starting at $50,833 and the RS reaching $65,733. The Z71 model, priced at $56,833, featured gloss black-painted 18-inch alloy wheels and Iridescent Pearl Tricoat paint, with a Jet Black interior accented by "Torch Red" highlights. The standard cloth seats were comfortable, though synthetic leather was available for an additional cost.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator, built on a rear-wheel-drive platform shared with the Ford Explorer, boasted classic design proportions with a blunt nose, short front overhang, and a tapered roofline. While the 2025 styling was less elegant than before, the Aviator's interior exuded a classic architectural sensibility. The Aviator's remote keyless entry fob was criticized for its cheap appearance, but the Phone as a Key technology and touchpad entry system offered modern convenience. In Canada, the Aviator was available in Premiere and Reserve trims, with prices ranging from $79,595 to $81,695. Our test vehicle, in Reserve trim, featured Whisper Blue paint and several option packages, bringing the MSRP to $96,295. The Reserve 201A package added numerous features, including upgraded lighting, 30-way-adjustable front seats, and a 28-speaker Revel Ultima audio system.

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse replaced its previous 310-horsepower 3.6-litre V6 with a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine, producing 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. This new engine offered 18 more horsepower and 50 more lb-ft of torque than the V6. All-wheel drive was standard on all trims in Canada, with the Z71 featuring a more advanced dual-clutch system. The Traverse provided acceptable acceleration and passing power, with a pleasant exhaust growl. The steering was adequate, and the ride was exemplary, even with the Z71's all-terrain tires and extra ground clearance. The brakes were progressive, and the stop-and-start feature was seamless. Fuel economy was rated at 12.4 L/100 km in the city, 9.9 on the highway, and 11.3 combined.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator featured a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine, delivering 400 horsepower and 415 lb-ft of torque through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Drivers could choose from various driving modes, and the optional adaptive air suspension firmed up in Excite mode. The Aviator excelled in Normal mode, with ample power for acceleration and passing. Fuel economy was rated at 11.9 L/100 km combined, but our test showed 13.3 L/100 km. The Aviator offered clear sightlines and a 360-degree camera view for parking. The ride quality was generally pleasant, though the 22-inch wheels and thin tires struggled with rough surfaces. The adaptive Air Glide suspension controlled body motions, ensuring a composed ride.

Form and function

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse offered seating for eight in the LT and Z71 trims, while the RS featured second-row captain’s chairs, reducing capacity to seven. The Smart Slide second-row seats were easy to use, and a power-folding third row was available. Cargo volume was 648 litres behind the third row, expanding to 2,764 litres with the seats folded. The cabin featured numerous storage nooks, including a hidden area under the centre console. Visibility was mostly positive, though the third row felt a bit enclosed. The Z71 had a power-operated driver’s seat, but the front passenger seat was manually adjustable.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator's Perfect Position front seats offered 30 adjustments, heating, ventilation, and massage, providing exceptional comfort. The second-row captain’s chairs were roomy and supportive, with available heating and ventilation. The third-row seats were less accommodating, with limited legroom and low cushions. Storage space was excellent, with a centre console featuring a charging pad and hidden compartments. The Aviator offered 466 litres of cargo space behind the third row, expanding to 1,131 litres with the seats folded, and a maximum of 2,149 litres. The cabin lacked side window sunshades, an odd omission for a luxury SUV.

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse featured a 17.7-inch infotainment touchscreen, replacing the previous 8-inch screen. The system was responsive, with simple menus and Google-based software. An 11-inch digital instrument display provided navigation directions. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto were standard, along with a wireless charging pad. Physical controls for volume and HVAC functions were retained, though the driving mode button was less accessible. Super Cruise, a hands-free driving aid, was available for the first time, expanding its functionality to single-lane roads.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator had a 12.4-inch digital instrument cluster and a 13.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system powered by Lincoln Digital Experience. It supported Google Built-in, Alexa Built-in, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, the Google Assistant struggled with voice prompts in our test vehicle. The 28-speaker Revel Ultima 3D sound system provided excellent audio quality. The Aviator's head-up display offered a widescreen presentation of data, including lane departure warnings and blind-spot alerts.

The 2024 Chevrolet Traverse had not been crash-tested by NHTSA or IIHS at the time of our test drive. However, it offered a comprehensive suite of driver aids, including automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, blind-spot warning, and adaptive cruise control. These systems provided peace of mind during our drive.

The 2025 Lincoln Aviator featured the Lincoln Co-Pilot360 Drive 2.0 suite of advanced driver assistance systems, including active blind-spot monitoring, intersection assist, and evasive steering assist. BlueCruise, a hands-free driving assistance system, was standard, with a four-year subscription. The Aviator earned five-star ratings from NHTSA and Good ratings from IIHS, indicating strong safety performance.
