Used 2025 Subaru Outback for Sale near New Brunswick

How much does the 2025 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 14.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 251 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Subaru Outback earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It stands out as one of the last remaining station wagons on the market, so you get a distinctive long-roof shape instead of the usual crossover profile. That makes it especially appealing if you want practicality, good visibility, and a comfortable ride without buying a conventional SUV.

The trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and sluggish touchscreen response.

With 35.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop carefully for value.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s appeal is built around practicality, value, and standard all-wheel drive, which are all traits that tend to support dependable everyday use. Its comfortable ride and strong safety ratings also point to a vehicle that is well suited to regular commuting and family duty.

The expert assessment also highlights a solid overall balance, even if the base engine is not especially lively and the touchscreen can be slow to respond. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a trim or engine choice that feels underpowered for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Convenience and Touring trims use cloth upholstery and 17-inch wheels, while Onyx and Wilderness models add Subaru’s StarTex synthetic leather and heated outboard rear seats. All trims but Convenience get a power moonroof and the 11.6-inch infotainment system, while Limited and Premier grades add DriverFocus, built-in navigation, and leather upholstery.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.5-litre four-cylinder makes 182 horsepower and 176 pound-feet of torque, while XT and Wilderness models use a turbocharged 2.4-litre engine with 260 hp and 277 lb-ft. Both run on regular unleaded gas and use a CVT with standard all-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane centring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: Most trims get a portrait-oriented 11.6-inch touchscreen, while the base model uses twin 7-inch displays. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, wireless unless you have the base model’s twin 7-inch displays.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.5-litre model is rated at 9.2 L/100 km city, 7.3 highway, and 8.3 combined. Turbocharged XT models rise to 10.6 city, 8.1 highway, and 9.5 combined, while the Wilderness model is rated at 11.0 city, 9.0 highway, and 10.1 combined.

Which 2025 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2025 Subaru Outback is offered in 6 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, Wilderness, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point if you want the Outback’s wagon shape, standard all-wheel drive, and core practicality at the lowest cost.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want a more complete everyday setup, since it adds more equipment while staying close to the practical heart of the lineup.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want the easier-to-clean StarTex interior and the added rear-seat heating features.
• Limited: This is the better pick if you want leather upholstery, built-in navigation, and DriverFocus.
• Wilderness: Pick this if you want the most adventure-focused version, with extra ground clearance, a front skid plate, and additional X-Mode settings.
• Premier XT: This is the most upscale choice, adding Nappa leather upholstery and ventilated front seats.

Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 251 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $40,068 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $40,068 CAD sits slightly below last year's $47,118 CAD.

That softer pricing can be good news if you are buying now, but it also means future sellers may face a more competitive market. If prices remain under pressure, resale values could stay more restrained than they were a year ago.

Even so, the Outback’s distinctive wagon shape and broad appeal should help it hold attention better than many ordinary crossovers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2025 Outback received the top five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Subaru’s EyeSight driver-assist technology is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane centring, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and automatic emergency steering. Touring and higher trims also add blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert.

The main caveat is that the lane-keeping behaviour can feel a little busy, with more side-to-side movement than ideal. DriverFocus is also available, but it can produce false notifications.

Should I buy a 2025 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It remains one of the last remaining station wagons, with strong safety and practical value.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $34,879 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $40,068 CAD average.
• It keeps the raised wagon shape and adds feature-enriched trims.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It has been redesigned with an SUV-like shape and more feature enhancements.

The bottom line: If you want the distinctive wagon shape and a softer used-market price, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is spending less, the 2024 is the smarter value play. If you want the newer redesign and can stretch your budget, the 2026 is the more modern alternative.
