Used 2024 GMC Canyon for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2024 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 6.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 183 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the market.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon a good car?

It’s a strong but expensive midsize pickup, especially if you want a truck that feels more substantial and better equipped than most rivals. The user rating is 3/5, and the expert rating is 7.17/10.

The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

The Canyon’s appeal comes from its taller, wider stance, upscale cabin materials, and impressive standard equipment, along with a turbocharged engine that delivers plenty of power for towing, hauling, and off-road use. The trade-offs are clear: it’s expensive, the back seat is cramped, and the bed is shorter than competitors.

With 31.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you do have some room to find better value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon reliable?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is built around a robust turbocharged four-cylinder powertrain, and the expert assessment points to strong performance and solid road manners rather than any obvious mechanical weakness. Its standard four-wheel drive setup and well-sorted transmission support the impression of a truck engineered for hard use.

The expert notes also describe the Canyon as capable of towing, hauling, and off-road driving without feeling unsophisticated on pavement. That said, its high operating costs and premium pricing mean long-term ownership risk is more about expense than durability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation comes closest to a work-truck setup, while the AT4 is more off-road oriented, the Denali leans luxury, and the AT4X is the most dirt-focused. Even the base truck includes an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and an 11.3-inch touchscreen, but higher trims add more upscale cabin materials and equipment.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses the most powerful version of the 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and every Canadian trim gets four-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist are bundled into an available package on lower trims.
• Infotainment: The Canyon uses an 11.3-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Denali and AT4X also benefit from a head-up display.
• Fuel efficiency: The Canyon’s fuel economy is poor for the class, with ratings of 13.2 L/100 km in the city, 10.9 L/100 km on the highway, and 12.2 L/100 km combined. The AT4X AEV tester is rated at 14.9 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, and AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the value starting point if you want the Canyon’s core strengths without paying for the higher-end luxury or off-road extras. It already includes the big digital displays and the standard powertrain, but some safety features cost extra.
• AT4: This is the best-value trim if you want a more off-road-capable Canyon without jumping to the most expensive versions. It adds a more rugged focus and gets more standard hardware than the Elevation.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most upscale feel in the lineup. It leans into luxury and adds a head-up display, making it the trim for buyers who care most about refinement.
• AT4X: This is the most serious off-road choice, especially with the AEV package. It adds major hardware for trail use, but it’s also the priciest path by a wide margin.

The Canyon can be equipped with impressive safety features, but unless you opt for a high-spec trim, they’ll likely cost extra.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop around but not so much that bargains are everywhere.

• Deal availability: 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 183 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.05% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,746 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $51,746 CAD sits slightly below last year's $55,078 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means you may face more competition if the market stays soft.

The truck’s premium positioning and strong equipment list should still help it hold appeal, but its high running costs and expensive trims can limit how quickly values recover. If you buy well now, you may reduce some of that depreciation pressure later.

Is the 2024 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2024 GMC Canyon earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal crash results, five-star side-impact results, and three-star rollover results.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder system. Rear park assist, rear cross-traffic braking, and blind-zone steering assist are not standard on lower trims and may require an added package.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.05% compared with last year.
• The new AEV package adds serious off-road hardware to the AT4X.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $48,542 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $51,746 CAD average.
• It launched the redesigned Canyon with a well-equipped, upscale feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the latest version with the AEV package available and you’re willing to pay for it. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the smarter path because it delivers the redesign at a lower average price.
