Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale nearEdmonton, AB

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 7.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 200 listings available, which gives you a reasonable amount of choice in the used market.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving manners, and stylish design. The AT4X also stands out for buyers who want a more distinctive, more capable version of the truck.

The trade-offs are clear: the price can feel high for a used truck, and storage space under the seat could be better. That fits the Canyon’s role as a more premium midsize pickup for buyers who want comfort and tech over bargain pricing.

Only 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels solid, easy to live with, and dependable in everyday use. Reviewers also highlight its comfortable ride and strong performance, which are the kinds of traits that usually support confidence over time.

From an expert perspective, the Canyon’s powertrain and body-on-frame construction contribute to a sense of solidity and durability. GMC also backs it with a three-year, 60,000-kilometre basic warranty and a five-year, 100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright dependability and more about paying premium-truck money for a model that is positioned above more basic alternatives.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Canyon’s trims differ meaningfully in comfort and equipment, with the Denali bringing the nicest interior and the AT4X adding the most rugged character. The base Elevation skips some of the features that help the higher trims feel more premium.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic. In Canada, all models are 4WD, and the AT4X adds serious off-road hardware.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, surround-view camera, and a Safety Alert Seat are added through packages or standard on higher trims.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus Google Built-In. Higher trims add an 11-inch digital instrument cluster, a 6.3-inch head-up display, wireless phone charging, and a Bose premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard 4WD Canyon is rated at 12.4 L/100 km combined, 13.5 L/100 km city, and 11.0 L/100 km highway. The AT4X rises to 14.3 L/100 km combined, city, and highway.

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the Canyon’s core strengths: the 11.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone connectivity, Google Built-In, and the standard safety package. It makes sense if you want the Canyon experience without stretching to the pricier trims.
• AT4: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more rugged personality and stronger off-road focus without jumping all the way to Denali pricing. It suits you if you want capability and a more adventurous look.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most upscale Canyon. It brings the nicest interior, more premium materials, a larger digital cluster, a head-up display, wireless charging, and standard advanced safety and convenience features.
• AT4X: This is the one for buyers who want the most serious off-road hardware. It adds front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud terrain tyres, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and Baja drive mode.

The safety package is standard, but some advanced driver-assistance features only arrive on higher trims or through packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 200 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.07% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $47,920 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $47,920 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,563 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Canyon has become a bit more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if the market stays soft.

Because the Canyon sits in a premium position and offers strong equipment, well-kept examples should still attract interest from shoppers who want a more upscale midsize truck. Trim, condition, and equipment level will matter a lot when you go to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2023 GMC Canyon does not have published IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings in the available data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning.

If you want more advanced assistance, the Safety Plus Package adds rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear park assist on Elevation and AT4 models. Adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, and a surround-view camera come with the Technology Package on those trims, while Denali and AT4X make those features standard along with a Safety Alert Seat.

The main caveat is that some key safety features are not standard on lower trims, so you should check equipment carefully before buying.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more upscale feel, stronger tech, and a new AT4X off-road model.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,091 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $47,920 CAD average.
• It offers a broader range of powertrains and trims.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $51,274 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $47,920 CAD average.
• It adds an AEV package with taller stance and more off-road hardware.

The bottom line: If you want the newest design, the strongest tech, and the most premium Canyon feel, the 2023 is the right target. If price matters more than the redesign, the 2022 is the value play, while the 2024 suits you if you want the extra off-road upgrades and can justify the higher cost.
