How much does the 2023 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 7.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 188 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.4/5 user-rated SUV with an expert rating of 7.3/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the Pilot’s spaciousness, comfortable ride, and room for up to 8 passengers, and they also like its stylish design and family-friendly practicality. The main trade-offs are that some owners found the engine performance lacking, especially for torque and fuel efficiency, and the infotainment system drew criticism for being underwhelming compared with rivals.

That lines up with the Pilot’s positioning as a comfortable, well-equipped family vehicle with useful tech features and an off-road-capable TrailSport model. If you want a three-row SUV that prioritizes everyday usability and passenger space over sporty driving, it fits that brief well.

26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s a decent amount of market value to be found if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels spacious, comfortable, and solidly suited to family use, with the kind of everyday dependability shoppers often want in a three-row SUV. The expert drive notes reinforce that impression by describing smooth, predictable operation and safety systems that function as they should.

Honda also includes a broad set of standard safety and convenience features, which can help reduce day-to-day ownership stress. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some shoppers may still be sensitive to the Pilot’s average fuel economy and the possibility that the infotainment setup may feel less satisfying than newer rivals.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Sport trim gives you the standard AWD drivetrain and core family-SUV functionality, while the EX-L adds leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener via HomeLink, second-row sunshades, and the more desirable convenience and safety equipment. The Touring and Black Edition sit higher up with more luxury-oriented features, and the TrailSport is the one to focus on if you want the off-road-capable setup with its taller ride height, all-terrain tyres, and skid plates.
• Powertrain: You get an all-new 3.5-litre V6 with 285 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard i-VTM4 all-wheel drive in Canada. It’s tuned for comfort rather than sporty driving, and the TrailSport adds a small amount of extra ride height and tyre noise on pavement.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on all Pilot trims and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, traffic-jam assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. Front and rear parking sensors are added on the EX-L and higher trims, while the Touring adds surround-view and multi-view camera systems.
• Infotainment: Step up to at least the EX-L if you want the larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. USB ports in every row require the Touring, which also adds a multi-view camera system, head-up display, and fully digital instrument panel.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada estimates 12.4 L/100 km city, 9.3 L/100 km highway, and 11.0 L/100 km combined for the AWD Pilot. The TrailSport is rated at 13.0 L/100 km city, 10.3 L/100 km highway, and 11.8 L/100 km combined, while the Touring is rated at 12.7 L/100 km city, 9.4 L/100 km highway, and 11.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Pilot is offered in 4 trim levels: Sport, EX-L, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the standard AWD drivetrain and the redesigned Pilot’s core space, comfort, and safety foundation. It makes sense if you want the lowest starting point and don’t need the extra convenience and tech upgrades.
• EX-L: This is the value leader. You gain leather upholstery, HomeLink, second-row sunshades, front and rear parking sensors, the larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a wireless phone charger. If you want the best balance of equipment and price, this is the trim to target.
• Touring: This is the step-up choice if you want more family-friendly tech and convenience. It adds USB ports in every row, a multi-view camera system, head-up display, fully digital instrument panel, navigation, Bose premium audio, and remote monitor features.
• Black Edition: This is the top-end version of the Touring equipment level with a blackout treatment. It suits you if you want the most upscale appearance and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard across the range, while front and rear parking sensors start on the EX-L and higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 188 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $47,976 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $47,976 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,978 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about where the market has settled. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later. The Pilot’s strong family appeal and broad usefulness should help support demand, especially for well-equipped examples in good condition.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2023 Honda Pilot earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard Honda Sensing features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, lane departure warning, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. Front and rear parking sensors are added on the EX-L and higher trims, and the Touring trim adds surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

In expert testing, the advanced safety features worked as intended, with no false alarms noted. If you plan to use the TrailSport off pavement, some proximity warnings and low-speed automatic braking may need to be disabled because obstacles can trigger them too easily.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 26.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It’s the fully redesigned year with a more rugged appearance, more power, and the off-road-capable TrailSport model.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Pilot with stronger styling, more power, and a broader spread of useful family features, the 2023 is the one to focus on. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby model year may be worth considering, but you’ll be giving up some of the redesign’s appeal and equipment improvements.
