Used 2021 Honda Pilot for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2021 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 14.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 246 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot a good car?

Yes — the 2021 Honda Pilot earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, smooth ride, and range of features, and they also value the technology and safety equipment available. That lines up with its family-focused three-row layout and practical day-to-day usefulness, especially if you care more about comfort, utility, and easy living than fresh styling. Good and great deals make up 26.0% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as a vehicle they can count on for the long haul, with reliability, durability, and trouble-free ownership coming through in the feedback. Honda’s own positioning reinforces that dependability, with the Pilot presented as a known quantity that should last a long time and hold value well. The expert assessment also points to a vehicle that feels like a solid, everyday family tool rather than something fragile or high-maintenance.

For used buyers, the main ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about whether the Pilot’s age, design, and average value equation fit your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2021 Honda Pilot?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Five different versions are on sale in Canada: LX, EX, EX-L Navi, Touring, and Black Edition. The base trims are more basic, while higher trims add leather, navigation, and more premium convenience features.
• Powertrain: Every 2021 Pilot uses a 3.5-litre V6 with 280 horsepower and a nine-speed automatic. It is smooth, refined, and quick enough for everyday driving, while the torque-vectoring all-wheel-drive system and drive modes help in poor weather and light off-pavement use.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on every trim and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning start with the Touring trim.
• Infotainment: Most trims get an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, text-messaging support, satellite radio, and basic HondaLink. Wireless phone charging, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, a 10-speaker premium audio system, and rear-seat entertainment are reserved for higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada says the Pilot should use 11.0 L/100 km in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 10.9 L/100 km.

Which 2021 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2021 Honda Pilot is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L Navi, Touring, and Black Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Pilot’s core space, comfort, and standard safety without paying for extras you may not use.
• EX: This is the better-value choice for many shoppers because it adds useful everyday equipment while staying closer to the lower end of the range.
• EX-L Navi: This trim is the first one with built-in navigation, so it suits you if you want a more complete tech setup without jumping all the way to the pricier trims.
• Touring: This is the most feature-rich mainstream choice, adding wireless phone charging, HondaLink subscription services, a premium audio system, rear-seat entertainment, and Cabin Talk for families.
• Black Edition: This is the fully loaded choice with exclusive black leather upholstery, red contrast stitching, red ambient lighting, and a more distinctive appearance.

Honda Sensing is standard across the range, while blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning begin with the Touring trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2021 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 246 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $31,774 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2021 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $31,774 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,267 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price more competitively to stand out. If you plan to sell later, the current trend implies you should expect a softer resale environment than the one seen a year ago. Even so, the Pilot’s broad family appeal and practical reputation should help support demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2021 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2021 Honda Pilot earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA despite four-star marks for front-passenger protection in a frontal impact. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives it its highest “good” ratings, except for an “acceptable” score for front passenger small overlap frontal-impact protection.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic warning are added starting with the Touring trim. One caveat is that the older Honda Sensing setup is not especially smooth or refined, and the lane-departure warning can feel overly intrusive.

Should I buy a 2021 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2021 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2021 if:

• 26.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2021 stands out for its family-focused practicality, smooth ride, and useful technology.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $29,512 CAD, the 2020 costs less than the current year's $31,774 CAD average.
• It offers strong practical appeal with lots of cargo space, an adult-friendly third row, and standard safety features.

The bottom line: The 2021 is the better pick if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and everyday usefulness. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2020 is the more budget-friendly route and still delivers the Pilot’s core strengths.
