Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale near Alberta

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 4.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 199 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating, and our experts give it 7.33/10.

The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving manners, and stylish design. The AT4X also stands out for buyers who want a more distinctive, more capable version of the truck.

The trade-offs are clear: the price is high for a used truck, and storage space under the seat could be better. That fits the Canyon’s role as a more premium midsize pickup for you if you want comfort and tech over bargain pricing.

Only 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so you may need to be selective.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as solid and easy to live with, and the feedback points to a truck you can count on for everyday use. The expert drive notes also highlight a feeling of solidity that is rare in body-on-frame vehicles.

GMC backs the Canyon with a three-year, 60,000-kilometre basic warranty and a five-year, 100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium-positioned truck can cost more to keep satisfying if you want the higher-spec features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Denali brings the nicest interior, with laser-etched open pore wood trim, leather upholstery, chrome accents, and 20-inch wheels. The base Elevation skips some of the Chevy’s entry-level features, so you should check whether the equipment level matches your expectations.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic. In Canada, all models are 4WD, with a single-speed transfer case on Elevation and a two-speed transfer case on the other trims.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, rear park assist, adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, surround-view camera, and a Safety Alert Seat are added on higher-spec versions or through packages.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The digital instrument cluster is 8 inches on Elevation and AT4, and 11 inches on Denali and AT4X. Denali and AT4X also add a 6.3-inch head-up display and wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard 4WD Canyon is rated at 12.4 L/100 km combined, while the AT4X is rated at 14.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core Canyon experience with the standard turbocharged engine, 4WD, and the 11.3-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the redesigned truck and can live without the extra luxury and off-road hardware.
• AT4: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more rugged setup, including a two-speed transfer case, while keeping the Canyon’s premium feel and strong tech. If you want a more capable all-rounder without jumping to the priciest trims, this is the one to focus on.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most upscale cabin, with leather upholstery, open-pore wood trim, a head-up display, wireless charging, and the premium audio system. It suits you best if comfort and presentation matter more than price.
• AT4X: This is the most serious off-road version, with front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud terrain tyres, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and Baja drive mode. It is the right pick if you want the Canyon’s maximum trail capability.

The standard safety package is on every trim, while the extra driver-assist features become standard on Denali and AT4X.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

The market looks moderate for selective buyers, so you should compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 199 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.98% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $48,424 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $48,564 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,112 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has become a little easier for future buyers to access, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. At the same time, the current market shows that premium midsize trucks can lose some pricing power when new-model enthusiasm cools.

Because the Canyon is positioned as a more upscale truck, well-kept examples with desirable equipment should remain easier to market than stripped-down alternatives. Strong condition and the right trim will matter if you want to protect resale value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2023 GMC Canyon does not have published IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings in the available data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning.

If you want more advanced assistance, the Safety Plus Package adds rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear park assist on Elevation and AT4. Adaptive cruise control, rear pedestrian alert, and the surround-view camera system require the Technology Package on those trims, while Denali and AT4X make those features standard along with a Safety Alert Seat.

The main caveat is that some key safety features are not standard on lower trims, so you should verify the package content on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a redesigned cabin, stronger tech, and a more premium feel than the outgoing truck.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,245 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $48,564 CAD average.
• It offers a broader range of powertrains and trim levels.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $51,406 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $48,564 CAD average.
• It adds an AEV package with taller stance and more off-road hardware.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Canyon’s stronger tech and premium feel, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If price matters most, the 2022 is the value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newer off-road-focused upgrades.
