Used 2023 GMC Canyon for Sale near New Brunswick

How much does the 2023 GMC Canyon cost?

Prices have softened 5.26% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 193 listings available, which suggests you have some room to compare options before buying.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon a good car?

Yes — the 2023 GMC Canyon earns a 4.6/5 user rating, and its expert rating is 7.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Performance and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, solid performance, easy driving character, and stylish design. The AT4X also stands out for buyers who want a more adventurous, premium-feeling truck.

The main trade-offs are a high price for a used truck and limited storage space under the seat. That fits the Canyon’s role as a more upscale midsize pickup for buyers who want comfort and tech more than bare-bones utility.

With 31.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as solid and easy to live with, and the review summary points to a truck that feels dependable in daily use. The expert drive notes also highlight a feeling of solidity that is rare in body-on-frame vehicles.

GMC backs the Canyon with a three-year, 60,000-kilometre basic warranty and a five-year, 100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a premium-positioned truck can be costly to keep if you want it loaded with features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elevation skips some of the Chevy’s entry-level features, while the Denali adds a chrome grille, mirror accents, side steps, 20-inch wheels, leather upholstery, and laser-etched open pore wood trim. The AT4X brings the most rugged look and a more dramatic interior with available red-and-white upholstery and red dashboard trim.
• Powertrain: Every Canyon uses a 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque, paired with an 8-speed automatic. In Canada, all models are 4WD, with a single-speed transfer case on the Elevation and a two-speed transfer case on other models.
• Safety package: The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. Rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear park assist are added with the optional Safety Plus Package on Elevation and AT4, while adaptive cruise control requires the Technology Package.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The digital instrument cluster is 8 inches on Elevation and AT4, and 11 inches on Denali and AT4X. Denali and AT4X also add a 6.3-inch head-up display and wireless phone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard 4WD Canyon is rated at 12.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, while the AT4X is rated at 14.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 GMC Canyon trim should I buy?

The 2023 GMC Canyon is offered in 4 trim levels: Elevation, AT4, Denali, AT4X.

Here's the short version:

• Elevation: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the core Canyon experience with the standard turbocharged engine, 4WD, and the full infotainment setup. It makes sense if you want the least expensive path into the redesigned truck and can live without the extra luxury and safety equipment.
• AT4: This is the best-value choice for many buyers because it adds a more adventurous character without jumping all the way to Denali pricing. It suits you if you want a more capable-looking Canyon with stronger off-road intent and a better equipment mix than the base trim.
• Denali: Choose this if you want the most upscale Canyon feel, with the nicest interior materials, more chrome, larger wheels, and extra standard convenience and safety equipment. It is the right pick if comfort and premium presentation matter most.
• AT4X: This is the one to buy if you want the most serious off-road hardware, including front and rear electronic lockers, skid plates, 33-inch mud terrain tyres, Multimatic DSSV dampers, and Baja drive mode. It is the most specialised trim and best for buyers who will actually use that capability.

The Safety Plus Package adds useful driver-assistance features on Elevation and AT4, while Denali and AT4X include those features as standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 GMC Canyon?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 193 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $48,428 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 GMC Canyon's resale value?

The current average of $48,466 CAD sits slightly below last year's $51,158 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Canyon has become a little easier for used buyers to access, which can put pressure on future resale if the market stays competitive. For a seller, that means you may need to price carefully to stand out, especially against similarly equipped trucks.

At the same time, the Canyon’s premium positioning, strong equipment, and broad appeal among buyers who want a more upscale midsize truck can help support demand. Well-kept examples with desirable trims should hold attention better than stripped-down trucks.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 GMC Canyon safe?

The 2023 GMC Canyon does not have published IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings in the available data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Canyon Pro Safety Package includes automatic emergency braking with front pedestrian braking and cyclist detection, automatic high beams, a following distance indicator, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and forward collision warning. On Elevation and AT4, the optional Safety Plus Package adds rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, blind-zone steering assist, and rear park assist. Adaptive cruise control requires the Technology Package on those trims, while Denali and AT4X include those features plus a Safety Alert Seat as standard.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard on every trim, so you need to check equipment carefully if safety tech matters to you.

Should I buy a 2023 GMC Canyon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.26% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more upscale feel, stronger tech, and added AT4X off-road capability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $37,143 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $48,466 CAD average.
• It offers a broader trim range and a more budget-friendly entry point.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $51,566 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $48,466 CAD average.
• It adds an AEV package that makes the AT4X taller and more off-road focused.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Canyon with strong tech, premium feel, and a more modern cabin, the 2023 is the right starting point. If price matters most, the 2022 is the better value play. If you want the most extreme off-road version and can spend more, the 2024 is the upgrade to watch.
