Ford redesigned it from the ground up for this generation, and the truck keeps its own beefy frame and heavier-hitting powertrains while borrowing some style, cab, and interior elements from the circa-2021 F-150. It also comes standard with a 5G WiFi hotspot, fleet management and telematics apps, and an 8.0-inch infotainment screen, while higher trims add a 12.0-inch display and a configurable 12.0-inch digital instrument cluster.
Capability remains the main attraction. The available high-output 6.7-litre Power Stroke turbodiesel produces 1,200 pound-feet of torque, and the F-350 single-rear-wheel model can tow up to 12,700 kilograms with a conventional hitch or up to 17,200 kilograms in dual-rear-wheel form with a gooseneck or fifth-wheel hitch. Payload capacity ranges from around 1,400 kilograms to 3,330 kilograms, and Ford made more models four-wheel drive by default, leaving rear-wheel drive mainly for work-grade XL versions. The truck also offers regular, SuperCab, and crew cab body styles, plus six-and-three-quarter- or eight-foot beds.
What makes this generation especially appealing is how much towing help and driver assistance Ford built in. Available features include onboard scales, a surround-view monitoring system that accounts for a trailer, tailgate-down backup cameras and sensing units, trailer navigation, adaptive cruise control with lane centring, and Pro Trailer hitch. The trade-off is that this is still a very expensive truck, and the most capable versions are not cheap on the used market.
