Is the 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty a good car?

It can be a strong fit if you want a heavy-duty truck that can serve as a worksite tool, commuter, family hauler, or road-trip vehicle, and it earns a user rating of 3/5 alongside an expert rating of 8.17/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

The 2020 update adds a new 7.3-litre V8, expanded use of the 10-speed automatic transmission, and a new Tremor trim, which broadens both capability and character. The truck’s wide trim range and multiple body styles make it especially flexible for different jobs and budgets.

The trade-offs are straightforward: the styling is uninspired, and the touchscreen response is sluggish.

With 25.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty reliable?

The 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty is built around heavy-duty capability, with multiple powertrain choices and a broad trim range that let you tailor it to work or daily use. Its 7.3-litre gas V8, 6.2-litre gas V8, and 6.7-litre turbodiesel all provide more than enough power for demanding jobs, and the truck’s towing and payload figures show it was engineered for serious use.

Ford also includes practical towing technology such as Pro Trailer Backup Assist, Trailer Reverse Guidance, and a 360 camera, which can make ownership easier if you tow often. The 10-speed automatic is part of the truck’s modernised drivetrain setup, and the available maintenance-friendly ownership experience is helped by the truck’s work-focused design.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck like this may have lived a hard life, so condition and maintenance history matter more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The XL is the most basic work-truck version, with vinyl seats, manual climate control, a 2.3-inch instrument panel menu screen, and a basic stereo, while the XLT adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and more convenience features. If you want the best value, the XLT is the trim that most clearly balances equipment and price.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 6.2-litre gas V8, a new 7.3-litre gas V8, or a 6.7-litre turbodiesel Power Stroke V8. The gas engines are strong, and the diesel is the torque leader if towing is your priority.
• Safety package: The standard truck includes airbags, automatic high beams, traction control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The XLT adds automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring, while higher trims add more features such as reverse sensing, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and adaptive steering.
• Infotainment: SYNC 3 brings an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto on the XLT and above. It is generally intuitive, but you should check that the screen responds properly and that the system switches cleanly between menus.
• Fuel efficiency: Owners report average fuel efficiency of around 20.5 L/100 km with the 6.2-litre gas engine. The new 7.3-litre gas engine returns around 17 to 20 L/100 km, and the Power Stroke diesel can return as little as 12 L/100 km on the highway.

Which 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty is offered in 6 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the most work-focused choice, with the simplest cabin and the fewest comfort features. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and do not need much beyond basic truck capability.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds SYNC 3, an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and key safety upgrades such as automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring.
• Lariat: This trim is the bridge to a more upscale truck, adding leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, power front seats, and power-adjustable pedals. It suits you if you want more comfort without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
• King Ranch: This version adds a distinctive two-tone look, saddle-style leather, ambient lighting, and memory settings, and it also makes Pro Trailer Backup Assist standard. It is a strong pick if you want a more premium feel and tow often.
• Platinum: This trim leans further into luxury with heated-and-ventilated seats, massaging front seats, and more upscale visual touches. It is best if comfort matters as much as capability.
• Limited: This is the range-topper, with power-retractable running boards, a panoramic dual-panel sunroof, and a premium Bang & Olufsen audio system. Choose it if you want the most fully equipped version.

The XLT is the trim where the safety package starts to become much more compelling, while the higher trims layer on additional driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly when you find a strong example.

• Deal availability: 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 95 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $53,835 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $54,109 CAD sits slightly below last year's $62,282 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the truck was maintained.

Because heavy-duty trucks can see hard use, a clean history and well-kept equipment will matter a lot when it comes time to sell. Higher trims and desirable equipment can help, but the overall market is still softer than it was a year ago.

Is the 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty safe?

The 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes a full array of airbags, automatic high beams, traction control, and a tyre pressure monitoring system. The XLT adds automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and blind-spot monitoring, with trailer-aware blind-spot coverage, while the Lariat adds reverse sensing and the King Ranch adds lane departure warning. Pro Trailer Backup Assist becomes standard on the King Ranch and remains available on higher trims, and the Platinum adds adaptive cruise control and adaptive steering.

Should I buy a 2020 Ford F-350 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2020 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2020 if:

• 25.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.12% compared with last year.
• The new 7.3-litre V8 and Tremor trim are important to you.

The bottom line: The 2020 model is a smart choice if you want the updated engine lineup and the added breadth of the Tremor package, especially if you need a truck that can work hard and still offer a wide range of trims. If you are more price-sensitive, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2020 gives you a strong mix of capability, features, and softer pricing.
